To get to the playoffs..?

I think that's where it stands at this point.

That's a big order.

We've got the KC game in the bag..but with the way things are shaping up..we'll need to probably be 11-5 to have a shot at The Eastern Division to ensure our spot in the playoffs.

And if we lose any games along the way..the other teams looking for the 6th spot will probably overtake us or beat us on a tie-break if it's the Giants doing the tying or it turns out to be the Commanders if we lose it Sunday, who will have swept us in the division.

I'd like to believe we can win all our games in December..but our only 3 game winning streak was just before Thanksgivng against very weak opponents, none of whom are looking for playoff spots like 2 out of our next 3 are doing.

This team has a habit of playing sloppy games right after winning the previous week.

As big as the Chiefs win was for us, this game, is probably the biggest of the year, for us and for the Skins as well. They come in with nothing to lose and we come in trying to probably not lose one if we can at their place.

This has very big game and playoffs written all over it for us. Or not.

And it's not just this game, it's all the games after that.

Can we really make December 4-0 and do this..?

It's a big order and if they do, Parcells and the coaches will have probably pulled off their greatest coaching job of their careers.

It's there for the taking.

Love to see it happen. But realitically I've got my doubts we've got the killer instinct to do it.

I haven't seen to date anymore than a scrambling, play maybe 20-30 minutes of good football from this team in any game and a defensive character that caves in the last 5 minutes almost weekly.

That will not get us to 4-0 in December.

Can the coaches really fix these problems..?

:banghead:

What do you guys think..?

It's a possibility, yes. The Skins game won't be easy either for us nor for them. The Carolina game won't be as scary as everyone thinks. Their run game sux, and their D line could still be banged up when we play them.

I have a hunch that the winner of the Boys/Skins game will go on and win the NFC East. The Gints, with all their injuries and poor play from Manning-lite, may crash and burn.

I think that THIS game is BIG BECAUSE of our win against KC.

When we win THIS week against Washington then the game against Carolina become a MUST WIN.

Then the Rams.

I don't see it. There are too many variables including our poor line play to win out the rest of the season.

Seemed like they fixed the Oline last week. Dont know how they did it, or if it was a quirk of who we were playing. if the Oline is solid these last 3 games as it was in the last game, we certainly can, though it will be a tough road for sure. If we revert to the porr Oline blocking, we wont win em all. I was really surprised last week and will be watching the Oline closely this week. If they are starting to gel and figure it out, we could have a nice long ride into January. Maybe even into February (depending when the Superbowl is).

Like I've mentioned in other threads-glad to see Parcells turning Tucker and Pettiti loose. If we really want to make a playoff run, then we're gonna have to open up our offense with what we've got 'cuz this max-protect crap ain't gonna get us pts. If these guys have poor games, then so be it.

Trial by fire. when its over, you know exactley what you have and wether you need to fix it again. I think both Tucker and Petteti will come through your trial by fire with flying colors, they are really not that bad are they. I like em both and want em both to work out.

lets do it. Get the memo out to Parcells we are opening this thing up and are gunna lay rubber on teams faces or blow the engine trying.

I don't think we need to go 4-0. We need to win this week and then beat the Rams in the last game. That should get us in and possibly win the division.

Agreed

It was alot like that 94 season where we had a great chance to three-peat. When Erik Williams went down mid-way through, especially with a rookie Larry Allen in his place at the time, we all thought our chances were done.

Would we have three-peated with Williams? Probably-in both of the SF games, Ricky Jackson was having a field day on Allen. However-look at what LA has brought to the table for us in subsequent years. We probably wouldn't have won that Super Bowl the year after if he had been at that guard position.

Ultimately-short run bad breaks can mean long run good breaks. My gut tells me Torrin and Rob have a bright future for this team. :D

I was trying to figure the playoff scenarios if we finish 10-6. I am assuming we win New Years day. I figured it 2 different ways. If we beat Washington and lose to Carolina we miss the playoffs. If we Lose to Washington and beat Carolina we make it. That is not in stone, but I did look at each week. I gave Minnesota the win in week 17 over Chicago, but in my scenario, they had the 2 seed locked up and if Minnesota wins they make the playoffs.

The seeds for the NFC fell like this.
1 Seattle
2 Chicago
3 NY Giants
4 Carolina
5 Tampa Bay
6 Dallas if we beat Carolina
6 Minnesota if we beat Washington

The tiebreaker goes to conference win/loss percentage within the conference. All 3 teams with a 10-6 record beat Detroit so I eliminated them. I just added up the wins to make it easier. Tampa's opponents had 41 victories, Dallas had 39, and Minny has 36. If you switch out Washington for Carolina we drop to 36. But Minny beats Chicago in week giving them the edge since we beat St. Louis in my scenario.

All of this is hypothetical and will change depending on how well teams that we have beaten play, but we have the inferior percentage at this time, and will probably get worse.

If we tie Minnesota than we go back to Strength of victory, because we don't have 4 common games. Spags said we were just behind Tampa in this catagory, I am not sure but that would put us in.

All of this is speculative, and the longest shot would be Minny beating Chicago at home, but if Chicago has nothing to play for, who knows.

Agreed. I could see us winning the division. Gints aren't as good as their record (I hate that you are what you are thing) and I can see them getting beat up at KC and then turning around and losing to Wash.

Comes down to who wins this game IMO. The others are important, but this is a divisional game. This win could do a lot to vault this team into the plaoffs, and quite possibly as the East champs.

Weirder things have happened.

If we go 2-1 over the next 3 we will make the playoffs. The only variable is that we must beat the Commanders or they must lose to the Giants or Eagles.

Atlanta plays Carolina, Chicago, and Tampa Bay. So either way one of the teams ahead of us or tied with us will lose at least once.

Minnesota will lose to Pittsburgh and probably to Chicago as well. We all know that they aren't really that good. They have had some wierd wins in their run of wins. They have to play in Baltimore on a Sunday night game too, that's definately not a gimme.

Tampa has a good chance of losing on Sat. against New England which if they win the rest will still give them the division.

With all the teams playing each other, we do have a loss to play with, but things would be alot easier if it's not to the Skins. Carolina would be OK, but could bite us if we tie them for the 6th spot.

I agree that we can probably make the playoffs if we beat Washington and the Rams and lose to Carolina. But, in order to win the division, we would have to win out and have some help.

The Commanders game, imo, is more important than the Panthers, because a win over Washington bascially eliminates them - whereas a loss to Washington would move them ahead of us do to the tiebreaker.

I think we can win our next 3, but then again we could just as easily lose the next 3. The great thing about the salary cap and free agency is it's created parity in the NFL and teams aren't really separated by much on Sunday. It usually comes down to whichever team makes the fewest mistakes and takes advantages of the few mismatches they do have. If we can play pretty mistake free football, cut down on the penaties and turnovers, and take advantage where we have it then I think we will do alright. Our defense needs to to continue to play well and hopefully force some turnovers and the other teams into some mistakes.

I am not going to be disappointed if this team misses out on the playoffs though because I think we are definitely headed in the right direction. Parcells knows this team has some ares of concern that need ot be addressed in the offseason and I think he addresses those and we go into next season as a legitimate superbowl contender. The NFC is weakened this year and IF we do make the playoffs I think we have just as good of a shot as any of the other 5 NFC teams in making the superbowl, but I see no NFC team competing with the Colts.

I believe we can win rest of the game.
I think we are as good as any team in the NFC right now.

I will be happy with this season if, regardless of playoffs, we beat the foreskins on sunday and thus eliminate them from post-season.
That's all i want for Christmas. Playoffs and/or NFC East title will just be bonus.
