Maybe its just me, but with everything being said and the way tings have gone lately, can any of the Big 3, Romo/Barber/Owens, get the stones to try and get a chat session with the old big 3, Aikman/Smith/Irvin. When thinking about it, it just makes sense to say lets get our act together, learned from HOF guys who sat in our shoes, we want to be not only like them, but better than them. Put aside that ego, do what it takes to win....can we just talk????

once Aikman and co began talking about hard work, dedication, being a team player, not playing for selfish reasons, being accountable etc etc, the current trio would be disinterested and it would go right over their heads.

"Triplets" were "WINNERS"...these guys are not.

But thats my point, seriously, none of these guys wnat it that bad???? Anyone of the three (romo/barber/owens) could command the respect of the others to try and get this done, it would be how I think. Whether it would work or do any good is another story, but I am one who thinks about getting somethng done, trying to see how to make myself better, my team better. Maybe I care to much!!!

Irvin talks to Owens a lot. Hasn't helped him yet.

Troy wants to be known as an objective broadcaster, not a Cowboys' consultant.

Emmitt cared little for his own teammates when he was playing, I don't know why he'd give a rip about the current team, unless it were to garner some positive publicity for himself.

I could see it being a very heated and interesting conversation.

Everytime one of the triplets tried to point out how they did things and what they were able to accomplish doing it their way one of the current players would be able to point out something someone else was doing for them then that isn't happening here now.

For example if Aikman were to start talking about how he prepared and how it helped him on the field it would be feasible to believe that Romo could say, "Yeah I prepare as well. The big difference here is that I don't get 10 seconds in the pocket to pick and choose guys when they come open cause my line sucks at pass blocking compared to the guys you had that never let you get touched."

In fact quite a bit of the offensive struggles can be pointed directly to the O-Line for various reasons. Injuries killing the left side of the line didn't help, at all. But when the O-Line plays this poorly at protecting your QB there is no way your QB can do his job to the manner he should be able to.

Like I've said a million times before you could stick anyone behind our current O-Line, including Aikman in his glory days, and they wouldn't do well, at all, down the stretch of the season cause they'd be getting hit and or sacked way too much.

Finally we agree...

Romo can win a big game to save his life. Barber is a beast and here is hoping his toe wont linger like Gates/Deion did. TO is underutilized.

Nothing wrong with guys talking to former players but these former players are looked at as outsiders not members of the team how much any of these guys have to say I'm not sure how much the players will take to heart. It is like the guy who starts off say in my day this is how we did it, now how many younger players will tune them out?

I don't buy this. First off, and I might get it for this, but the OLine Aikman played behind was a much better run blocking unit than pass blocking unit. Aikman GOT HIT OFTEN. If you think Aikman always had 10 seconds to make a decision, you need to go back and watch those days.

Second, before you say I'm crazy, go watch some games from the Cowboys "glory days" and tell me how often Aikman held onto the ball? It was 1-2-3 step BALL OUT. 4-5 step BALL OUT. 7 step - BALL OUT.

The guy got rid of the ball and threw TIMING ROUTES. Did he ever get sacked? Of course. Were there times that routes were covered and he had to hang onto it? Of course. BUT AS A PATTERN, the guy got the ball out and KNEW where to go with it, and Tony Romo could learn something about that.

If I'm Jerry, I'd pay to get the triplets in the locker room to kick some *** and raise some hell.

Oh please, you think our currently players are going to cower in front of them? I'm sure our current players could prevent an *** kicking from old players let’s get real. It is great to pass on knowledge and there is no doubt Troy, Mike and Emmitt have valuable things they could pass on but that is the extent of it

Sorry but Barber does not strike me as worthy of the Big 3. I would make it Romo/Owen/Witten in that order.

but as the triplets start talking about team chemistry, romo would be texting Jessica, Owen texting his agent and Witten would be texting romo.)

Conversation predictions

Aikman to Romo:
  1. Rapt attention
  2. Some jokes through in
  3. Some points sink in
  4. Some points will be shrugged off as, "Hey. That's him not me."
Smith to Barber:
  1. Rapt attention
  2. If there are any jokes, they will be Emmitt's lame ones
  3. All points sink in
Irvin to Owens:
  1. Rapt attention when Irvin's talking about him and not so much when he isn't (see ILOVEMESOMEME Rule #1)
  2. Some jokes thrown in
  3. Some points will be ignored (see ILOVEMESOMEME Rule #1)
Note: Terrell Owens holds the Guinness Books world record for smallest rulebook (one entry).

There is a problem with the Air Coryell attack. Generally if a QB throws the ball on a timing route then you can hardly defend it. The ball is gone before the final cut by the WR. But the cover 2 esp with added backs/deep drop LBs is pretty effective at stopping it and getting TOs. The QB and WR have to be pretty heady to know when to break it off and change the route and BOTH be on the same page. O/W more INTs.

I don't know how many timing passes we actually do. Surely there are some in the arsenal. But I don't think we are running a timing dependent passing attack. Am I wrong??

The OL is part of the problem. Why did they go from giving Romo all day to not being able to protect as well as we'd like?

Y'know, when I think about the old big 3 versus the new big 3, I think of a major difference...the desire to win. Troy, Michael and Emmitt oozed it out of every pore. You saw it and felt it on every play.

The new big 3 (I assume Romo, Owens, Witten?). It's there from Owens, we hear about it all the time (in his own way unfortunately sometimes). We've seen it from Witten...a guy that doesn't want to win won't run down field w/o a helmet. But Romo... I just can't get beyond his crap post-game comments about how if losing a game is the worst thing... I'm sorry, I like Romo and I want him to be the QB and to succeed, but that doesn't say desire, that says uninspired. It says mediocre. To me, knowing what this team is capable of, that is unacceptable and I wish it'd be unacceptable to him too.

Good luck asking iOwens to be a team player. Troy Aikman lost stats due the the running of Emmitt Smith. Do you think iOwens is willing to lose more "opportunities". I've never seen Owens pouting on the sidelines when Dallas is winning games.

Wade Phillips wants the Cowboys to run the ball more. The season hasn't even started, and that will not set well with Owens. Owens torched "red" corners in 2007. He had, at least, a 9.0 YPA in 2007 against "top" corners. In 2008, he had, gulp, a YPA around 2.0 against the "top" corners.

Micheal Irvin played in his prime for the Cowboys, and he was a locker room uniter. Owens' numbers at WR have declined from 2004-2008, with 2007 being the only exception. Furthermore, he is a divider.

the new big 3?

Romo - can't up his game with the rest of the league in December

Barber - can't play because of a pinkie toe and hasn't even cracked a 1,000 yards yet.

81 - clown

these guys are no big 3 right now.

I think it's that those were a million times more talented.

Comparing Romo to Aikman? And even worse, Barber to Emmitt? Please.
