Is it just me or is this kid tearing it up? All I've read from reports is that this kid is a beast. Any other insight, or the posters that have actually been to camp can enlighten please?

I said it yesterday in another thread but this kid reminded me of Justic Tuck (body type) coming out. Please dear Lord let this kid be a player THIS year.

If either he or Lissemore can deliver quality reps, it's big for us. I think they both can probably contribute, and Lissemore can probably start for us game one. :fingerscrossed:

It's a battle between him and Sean Lissemore....

I like them both

Spears and coleman will either be cut, or just a nice back up.

No. Didn't you get the memo.

Lost me on that one. Are we supposed to be talking about how this is the year that Spears finally comes into his own, or when Hatcher never pulls, or tweaks, anything and actually plays a full season?

But seriously, I am excited with many of the reports I'm seeing. Crawford, Dez, Lee, Carter and especially Carr.

I'm guessing Crawford gets broken in with Dime package assignments.

We need Dez to be HUGE this year.

I view Carter as an over the hump player. If he's really good, that might be the difference in defending the offense that should concern us the most. The eagles.

Carr is probably the most neccessary performer. We gave him big $ and the need to upgrade Newman was great.

The scouting department has done an excellent job in finding defensive lineman.

Lissemore in round seven is a steal. Remains to be seen if he can be a starter... But a good find, even if only a rotational player.

Brent for a seventh is a solid investment.

Hatcher in round three was a great pick. Very good starter.

Geathers is an intriguing udfa pickup.

Ratliff was a great seventh round pick.

Spears isn't a great player. But he has been solid. Hadn't competed busted like many first round, picks in his class.

Crawford looks good, too.

Geathers, Lissemore and Crawford need to push Coleman and Spears outta here

Stop with that nonsense. Jerry and Stephen make these hires so you know they suck. 1 playoff win in 16 yrs is all that matters.

Really like the sig.

By all accounts, it looks like he has played very well.

It also looks like he has some projectable growth now that he is training full-time. He only weighed 275 pounds at the combine but I thought I had read he showed up at 285 pounds to TC and the Cowboys eventually project him to 295 pounds.

His tape showed that he has a lot of burst on the field and is a very explosive tackler which is unusual for a DL - he really can rock someone if he isn't shedding a block while making the tackle. He apparently was showing similar things in practice and I know Broaddus has been talking about how is one of the few big men who can rush upfield while also making moves.

The last thing I want to mention is this guy is very raw as a football player. In the baseball world they know Canadian kids are raw and will improve more once in full season training because we don't play much as teenagers compared to American kids. Well the same is probably even more true of football because our season is short in high school due to winter and we really don't play football or do much training in the spring and summer on an organized basis. So this guy hadn't played much football before playing two years JUCO and then 2 years at Boise St. So he has a lot of improvement ahead of him.

As a Canadian it is amazing to me to now have two Canadians to root for: JPL and now Crawford. And I'll be the first to admit it is kind of awkward to root hard for the long snapper.

I'm really loving this whole youth movement on the DL as we seem to have improved the athleticism a great deal over the last year with the emergence of Lissemore and Hatcher last year as well as the development of Geathers and drafting of Crawford. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Spears and Coleman released in the end. We might have a shot at getting one back in week two. I still expect us to keep at least one of the vets as a stabilizing force given that Geathers, Crawford and Lissemore are so inexperienced and Hatcher is prone to getting nicked up.

I've been intrigued by the number of snaps it appears Lissemore has gotten at NT, and how effective he's been. It seems like we're gearing up for a rotating, versatile group of down linemen capable of playing multiple positions across the line.

If that's really the case, I could see it being Brent and Coleman on the way out. Either way, I am very excited about this unit - I loved the idea of Spencer/Lissemore/Ratliff/Hatcher/Ware, but if Geathers and Crawford are legit options to spell the ends,we're going to be substantially more effective, especially late.

All I heard from this board's draft experts was that he was a waste of a pick and looked slow on tape.

This is why I love preseason games.

Yeah, seeing the first teamers is nice...and most folks turn off the TV after the first quarter.

But I get more juiced to see how the young guys play when the lights are on. Sure, most of our second and third teamers will play the other teams second and third teamers. But if they dominate, then we'll know we have something.

Crawford is an exciting player. I'll be watching him closely. I'll also keep a close eye on Geathers. Guys his size are rare.

I really like how this DL is panning out. We have plenty of youth and experience. Hopefully, Ratliff will be able to play at full strength....then, we'd really have something.
