Can we trade spencer?

I don't know anything about franchise tags but would it be possible to trade Spencer for say a 2nd and 3rd round pick? Whitney Mercilus and Bruce Irvin would make me a lot happier than spencer.

wow no way would I be ok with Mercilus or Irvin starting day one. Right now Spencer is far and away better than either.

Would it be against the rules to negotiate with other teams without him signing the tender?

He would have to sign the tag to be traded, which he would because the acquiring team would be motivated to sign him longer term with a lower cap number. I think a 2nd & 3rd would be alot. You could probably get a 3rd for him though. He is a good player.
