Can you imagine how awesome this defense is going to be when Sean Lee and Ro McClain are both playing linebacker and Randall Gregory and Greg Hardy are both on the defensive line with the likes of DLaw and TCraw?

We still do not know IF McClain is going to play at all. He might go back into his reclusive state and retire again.

Looking forward to it. To the LBs, especially, with Lee, McClain, and Hitchens in there and the DL giving them some room to operate.
What I think most Cowboys fans may have forgotten is that McClain last year was the guy who came in and was Sean Lee light to a certain degree. I'm not sure the front office could have gone out and got a better replacement than what McClain turned out to be. And now we are going to have both playmakers on the field at the same time.
Add to that a vastly and ridiculously improved pass rush that will likely transpire with the addition of Greg Hardy and Randall Gregory and it very well could be the return of the Doomsday defense. We haven't seen it yet...people who think that's what happened against the Eagles are delusional. But we very well could see it starting game 5 against the Patriots. Okay maybe not against the Patriots...it may take a few games before they really find their stride. But once they do, this could be the top defense going into the playoffs if the Cowboys can pull off the unthinkable without Romo and Dez in the lineup for the better part of the season.

I don't think anyone around here has forgotten McClain's contribution. If anything, it's overblown around here.
I am definitely looking forward to a base defense with the additions of McClain and Hardy when they're back. Our nickle is going to be a blur, but I would rather see Hitchens there.
Any way you slice it, our depth at linebacker and defensive line is as obscene as the talent level.
I agree with most of what you said, but as far as McClain contribution last year, I don't think it can be overblown or overstated. We pulled the guy off the couch at the last minute. Name the player in the history of football who was pulled out of retirement and became the heart & soul of one side of the ball? He brought a spark to the entire defense in every game he played. And, for a linebacker, he was a pretty decent interception machine. Now we have two linebackers with ball skills. Oof. Our linebacking crew could have more generated take-aways then our entire secondary be seasons end.
Having hardy and Gregory back is going to make a huge impact
The defense has played well but we've played a couple of bad teams
It's gonna get tougher and getting after the QB is going to become more important
Romac brings an attitude I like but the pass rush is the real key to me
