With the way our D has rev'd it up, especially our Secondary(Yes I said it, even with Danny "benedict arnold" McCray)and Rob Ryan.....just imagine Lee and Carter.

We would be unstoppable....throw in Church, and now we are talking.

What I find so crazy is if this was 2 years ago and beyond, we would have just laid down, and said to hell with it.

Just sucks we have so much fight left in us, with out Lee and Carter...It's crazy to say, but the way we are playing, it seems like they would just be a Luxury, and not a huge huge need

wouldn't mind having a monster of a NT in that equation.

Man I do not follow College ball super close in the d line area. Who has a good nose tackle? I agree if Church,Lee,and Carter was here the d would be top 10.

...has made the last few weeks of the season fun for the fans.

And it is too bad we were not able to see this team relatively healthy for this final run at the playoffs. With all of our starters what would we be capable of????

Fun. but frustrating to play that "what if" game.

If the Cowboys pay Spencer $10m/year along with the roughly $10m/year both Ware and Carr are getting that is $30m. That leaves $30m for the other 24-25 defensive players on the roster.

See the problem here? There isn't enough money to go around to pay every one of these guys their fair market value.

There are some very hard decisions to be made buy the front-office in the offseason -- starting with whether or not they want to commit 1/6 of the cap to two 30+ year old OLBs -- assuming they resign Spencer.

Dallas gonna have to decide if they want a offensive lineman first or a nose tackle.........

Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Height: 6-4. Weight: 325.
Projected 40 Time: 5.15.
Projected Round (2013): Top-10.

OR

Jonathan Jenkins, DT, Georgia
Height: 6-3. Weight: 351.
Projected 40 Time: 5.55.
Projected Round (2013): 1.

Yeah, I hear you.....

It could be a sad off season

Imagine what our defense might be with:

Ratliff
Brent
Coleman
Carter
Lee
Claiborne
Church
Scandrick

The coaches deserve a lot of credit for getting this defense to play with full intensity and step up in many cases from the street into the starting lineup.

I also give the offensive coaches credit for trying to coach around a sieve of an OL and still put points up with regularity.

We could possibly be ready to explode next year with health if the players fully step up and play at their peaks:

Church
Costa
Killer
Tyron
Carter
Lee
Murray
Dez
Harris
Beasley
Hanna
Crawford

I think there is a lot of upside to this roster that isn't yet realized because so much of our talent is in their 1st to 3rd years in the league and has yet to peak. All of them should be making a major step up and their should be a bit of fortification from the next draft and FA class.

To me, the biggest worry is whether we can keep Ware healthy and have him be an effective QB terror. He hasn't been doing it during our hot stretch so maybe the defense has gone from being a 1-man gang out there but a healthy Ware is a difference maker.

Is Jenkins that kid that wears No 6 at NT? He is a beast.

This team would be way, WAY better with Lee, Carter, and Church.

But I agree, there is no denying the heart of the replacements and team as a whole.

I'll be honest, I don't see Jenkins as a lock for round 1. Just not active enough. He's actually pretty low on the list of NTs I would want.

Star Lotulelei is obviously first. I would take him with the first pick, if we owned KC or Jax's pick.

Next, probably Jonathan Hankins. I think he'll go top 10, and I would be hesitant to take him there. Maybe just outside the top 10, top 15 definatley.
In that same range, I'd consider Sheldon Richardson, assuming he measures in at 6'3 and not lower. While not a NT, I think he is similar to Fletcher Cox, who many wanted (FWIW, I haven't looked up his "red flags" this early in the process).

Then if we get stuck in that 15-20 range where the 8-8/9-7 non playoff teams pick, I'd consider Kwame Geathers (brother of Robert Geathers and former PS player Clifton Geathers). I think he was a better player than Jenkins this year and has a much bigger upside.

Now if we make the playoffs and win a game (meaning we pick 24 or lower), then I'd consider Slyvester Williams (would be higher if it weren't for age) and Jonathan Jenkins, but as with all the other picks I mentioned, depends on who is there.

For whatever reason, both Cincy and the Steelers did not just try to control TOP and run the ball a little more, despite success. That is where we most miss those two. Sims is undersized and Connor is a bit spare all around. Albright has been a nice looking player and is getting better, but still not sure how strong he is at the point of attack.

Look for the Saints to attack the seam all day Sunday.

Rob was sometimes questioned if he was a product of the talent of his defense.

Not anymore.

I think the argument can be made that this defense is playing much better football is because they have HAD TO. The reason is that those big money starters are not there, so the D knows flat out it has to compensate and now everyone is trying to make plays and not waiting on other guys to be responsible and make the plays.

Accountable to each other. Something we have not seen when all of the starters were in there. Strange.

I'm still not convinced he is anything special.

Lots of talent on the defense.

The pass defense is allowing rookie QBs to average 100+ QB ratings against the Cowboys.

Pass defense overall has allowed 19 TDs vs only 7 interceptions for a 93.5 opposing QB rating -- in the bottom half of the league

The run defense has already been gashed for 1613 yard and teams are averaging 4.5 ypc.

In summary, yes the the defense has been injured, however, I haven't seen Ryan do anything particularly interesting or innovate to the extent that I think he is anything other than an average NFL DC.
