Can you imagine Belichick saying any of the following:

1. We are going to release a player we know we can get something for because it is the right thing to do.
2. We can get by with a ****ty offensive line because we have a shift QB.
3. We have a "Do Right" rule with our players and give them what they want to the detriment of the team.
4. We don't want competition on our team because we don't want people looking over their shoulder.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't see it. That's why we have bloated contracts for guys like Dez who we overpaid for and the Patriots have a cap surplus.

It is why the Patriots have won 5 Super Bowls since we have been in one. It is why a troublemaker gets shipped off to Cleveland even though he is a valuable starter. They don't overpay their players.

If the latest rumors of Romos release are true then it signals that whatever good we do is probably going be canceled out by a stupid decision somewhere else.
you bought into the BS stories sold by hack writers under pressure to meet deadlines and your disappointed , oh well
The Romo issue was the great easy story to make pipe dreams about. Particularly the three way trade delusion

You guys must think Jerry is a genius if he can trade a 37 year old qb with a major back injury and a clavicle made of glass who makes a ton of money when every team knows he won't be here.

If Jerry traded FOR a QB in the same situation you guys would be rioting

In the NFL if you don't have a QB you have nothing. If the situation were reversed I would be furious if they sent a 1st round pick, but any round after that I would be open to the idea knowing its unlikely you'll find a QB with more proven potential.

If we were in Houstons situation I would be disappointed if they didn't trade for Romo.

They released Dominique Easley after 1 season. Drafted him high too.
Aaron Hernandez says hello from his prison cell also. I do agree though with verdict on some points. JJ is too emotionally involved with his players and when that happens it is bad for business.

I am disappointed that we didn't get great compensation for Romo but I am much more disappointed in us talking about the possibility of releasing him before we had to. It negated our real bargaining power. Giving Romo up this early in the process did nothing for the Cowboys. It helped Romo at the expense of the team. I am very pissed over that.

This thread is trash, just like 90% of the Fan Zone's 1st page is right now.

Every thread is littered with snarky remarks about how much we suck, how poorly our organization is ran, etc, etc.

Unfortunately there's just not a whole lot of good content at the moment. Some people live for this type of crap though. OP is a perfect example.

Welcome to every single sports forum in existence

I would bet money...Belicheat could trade his 40 year old QB that has had a repaired ACL...right now.. for 2 #1 picks.

He wouldn't get two #1 picks for Brady.

The difference between Brady and Romo is very clear.

1. Brady has 5 Super Bowls. Romo has 2 playoff wins.

2. Brady has been very healthy for most of his career (the ACL tear happened 8 years ago). Romo has played very little football the past 18 months due to various back injuries and has had surgery on his back multiple times.

3. ACL surgery and back surgery are 2 different things. ACL surgery is far more likely to be successful than back surgery which has only about a 40-50% chance of being successful.

Looks like you can imagine being a Pats fan. Screw the Pats and their cheating ways.

Well because of the way we handled Romo from the get go it appears they killed all bargaining capabilities. At that point there wasn nothing left to do but release him. We obviously couldn't afford his salary as a back up.

But I am in agreement we wasted an opportunity. Jerry should have sat Tony down and told him we were going to publicly call him our back up this year. Then if he couldn't drum up some value release him before camp and he would still have ample time to prepare with his new team.

Im still suprised no one made an offer for a mid rounder at the least. Why not keep him off the market for that cost? Now you have to compete with other teams trying to bring him in. I realize Bradford is much younger but his injury history is pretty bad and his talent doesnt compare to this point. We shouldve been able to get something in return. In my biased opinion Romo will start, play well and win 10 plus games this year.
