In order for the Cowboys to be a playoff team, they need to learn how to run the ball. If you look at the teams that made to the this playoffs, they all have a good running game. Do you think that Minn or ATL are really special teams? No, they aren't but they control the clock and run the ball extremely well.

That is my biggest concern with Garrett as the O Coordinator. I am surprised as he played on the team that ran it first, then passed.

If we continue to be a pass first offense, we will be no better next year. That is why I am hoping that Garrett gets another job or he drastically changes his philosophy.

I agree.

This was the glaring problem with our approach this season. Don't understand how we could have the backs we had and still not run the ball. I think back to the Packer game and how well we played all around and it was because we ran the ball. Same with Cleveland.

We abandon the run way to early. It really is like Garrett has been playing too much madden or something. We ran the ball much more the year before, so I know he knows how to.

This is a MUST change for next year.

Agree 100%

Same staff or new staff I want to see more balance and maybe even perhaps a lean towards the running game. We have 3 great backs and huge OL, it's time to get back to basics.

With MBIII and Feliz back at 100% and Choice proving himself there is no question we will run the ball more next year.

I hope so. Has anybody heard anything on Felix and how his rehab is coming along?

Running the ball may be the solution for the Cowboys because it will take some pressure off of Romo and not allow him to jeopardize our game with turnovers as much, hopefully getting his confidence back.

However, running the ball is NOT indicative of all playoff teams. Philly just beat the crap out of us, and they are not a running team. They can run the ball less than we do and everyone will say they just changed their style because they throw so much.

Atlanta and Minny had the benefit of playing last place and weak schedules. One has a rookie QB and the other a below average QB, while they both have above average RBs, so of course they ran.

Atlanta is favored this weekend, but I actually expect both Atlanta and Minny to lose in the first round.

Carolina, NY, and Philly are the top teams in the NFC, imo.

IN the other league, Indy is probably the favorite, and they sure don't run much, but they have a QB who doesn't make as many mistakes as Tony either.

There are many ways to be a playoff or SB team, but I agree that the best way for the Cowboys is to become a little more conservative with a great defense, a committment to the running game, and limiting Tony Romo's opportunities a little rather than expecting him to carry the team.

I agree that Philly and Indy don't run it a lot. Philly thrives on those short little passes...

This is part of the reason why Romo has as many mistakes as he does. They aren't running the ball enough. They put more on Romo & his arm winning the game than the rest of the offense & that leaves a lot more opportunities for Romo to throw those death picks. Once we lost Felix this season, we didn't have that extra edge at the running game. Choice got his chance late in the season but at that point, Barber was to dinged up to make the knock-out punch.
