Cannabis should be legal and alcohol should be banned IMHO. Some day folks will look back and ask "What were they thinking?"

It does make sense, but it won't happen.

Neither should be illegal.

Weed should be legalized if only to quit wasting so much in resources on trying to combat it.

Contrary to popular belief, adult-onset diabetes isn't initiated by eating too much sugar, or by depletion of insulin. Rather, its onset is due to genetics, expressed earlier or later due to metabolic stress of high glucose diet, which leads to weight gain, which leads to poor aerobic fitness. These factors bring about decreased sensitivity of insulin receptors, reduced glucose utilization, and elevated blood glucose levels. Insulin levels also increase, causing increased fat storage, and worsening of the entire glucose metabolism picture.
Its obviously a vicious cycle.

Interesting info Doc, thks for posting.

My mid-70's step-mom is going through this right now. She's a loooong-time "health nut". Eating well, daily exercise, (walking, light weight work etc) and very pro-active in researching and utilizing holistic alternatives for common afflictions.

She's been diagnosed w/ exactly what you're describing, and it's primarily being attributed to hereditary factors, as her weight and diet is not the issue.
