Dez injury just took the sail out of things for me. I would read every press clipping/story/PC....the guy was lightening rod. Now i guess its back to Wall/McCann giving up another TD, or Kitna throwing behind someone again, or how the 6th TE is making some catches....but maybe these are our stories to follow...until he returns:

1) Ogletree - has opportunity to get more reps and maybe he can create more buzz over next few weeks that he is capable of maybe becoming 3rd receiver down road.

2) Bennett - still has chance to be training camp stud like last year and who knows...maybe the earth axis is slightly different this year and this guy actually blossoms during the year. I will say this...if Dez and Bennett are key componets this year...this is the best offense in football. Good luck to linebackers trying to cover Witten/Bennett, the safety trying to cover Miles in the slot, and the CB trying to cover Dez/Roy on outside. There is no defense in football that can deal with that. There would be matchup nightmares all over the field for Defensive Coordinators.

3) McGee - big next few practices/preseason games for this guy. This is his superbowl. Dallas really needs to start to think past Kitna (not fan favorite at the moment). McGee has strong arm...so pocket presense and progression thru his reads will determine if Dallas takes a QB in next year draft.

4) Lee/Williams - looks like Lee seperated himself further from Williams even during his absence. Wade says Williams is slowly getting it and we have to trust Wade will start to see this sooner than Broddus/Spagnola.

5) Beuhler - so far so good. Seems to really want it and has amazing ability...could solve alot of problems for dallas for years.

Maybe you will like it better after they leave San Antonio, play the HOF game, and practice some in Oxnard. :)

Sure took the shine off those pre-season games, which are normally unwatchable anyway.

Training camp IS GREAT!!!! What the heck are you two rambling about?! The sense of anticipation, the 5-6 months with no football finally coming to an end, the boundless optimism! What is not to like! Its part of the process and NOW its really a part of the season as a whole with TV and internet coverage. I SO look forward to late July every year. The "forming" of the team is one of the best things about the season to me. The "best" thing though is winning in the season and I personally think this is going to be a special one. Soak it in!:starspin

And that's about it, IMO.

We need to draft a QB next April regardless. Kitna needs replaced as the #2. Is that McGee? We need to find out. A new #3 needs to be in camp next summer.

Yea, i feel like someone beat the crap out of me and took my lunch money. Of course i still read the camp logs and watch the vids and keep up with it all, but just not the same without Dezmania. I will still be extremely excited to finally see the Cowboys in preseason but i wanted to see Bryant so badly in a real game.

For me, i want to see how Free continues to do. I want to see Hurd take a bigger step forward. See how Phillips and Bennett compare. Can McGee show something? Allan Ball prove he can take the starting job?

I'm with you. We have plenty of other rookies and young guys I can't wait to see.

More than anything, football season goes by way too fast as it is. I'm not about to wish any of the time away.

I agree Dez's injury did take a lot of the fun out of training camp but I still enjoy it.

It kicked my training camp excitement right in the pills too.

Ill still be happy to see us play next Sunday but it went from about a 10 excitement to about a 5.

This guy just plays to rough.

haha..Scandrick is evil empire now...except when season starts and he starts laying the wood on opposing receivers.

Well, you have 20 of 22 starters returning and both your top picks out with injury. Understandably, there's not much to really obsess about.

The first one is always an easy watch. Fun to see the team back in uniform and actually playing some football. Then watching the rookies and bubble guys take the field to see which ones will make the 53 man roster.

It's that 3rd and 4th game that begin to wear down even the most die-hard fans. Although the 3rd game is usually the dress rehearsal with the starters playing an entire half or more. That's fun.

By the 4th game it's pretty mind numbing. You just hope there is no injuries, and if there is, that they're minimal and not to any of the starters.

I LOVE training camp and preseason. After the long wait , it means football is near. BUT......I also look at it with a nervous eye because of the chance of injuries.
