Can't run the ball

You lose. When will the Cowboys learn.

Offensive lineman don't sell tickets. That is why we will never be able to run. Jerry will not draft guys who will not sell tickets.

This is why we give out huge contracts to guys like miles, roy williams, and other splash type players.

Waters has played well, but we got lucky there. We are playing with an undrafted 2nd year guard and a guard who did not play football last year.

And dez will get a huge contract as well, but we will never make it worth it. We don't have the philosophy that allows someone like him to dominate like he should.

Well Dez IMO deserves a good contract. Our problem is we give good contracts to players not worthy of them.

He does deserve a good contract, but it would be stupid for the cowboys to be the team to give it to him. They will not get their moneys worth. He is going to want a contract close to the maximum ever for a wr.

We don't maximize his potential. Therefore we should not give him a huge contract.

We don't maximize his potential because we can't run the ball. It's football 101.

just went I started to brag on Dallas OL they get manhandled.

Wrong. From what i heard he received man to man coverage a lot. Yet we didn't throw it to him.

Even if the lions can't run the ball, calvin still dominates this game. No matter what else happens, they will get him involved.

Dez not getting looks had nothing to do with our lack of running. When we threw him the ball, good things happened.

Not always true.
Cowboys today: 26 for 62 yds (2.4 YPC)
Saints today: 26 for 77 yds (2.96 YPC)
And the Saints won by 18
difference? Brees 332 yds and 5 TD's.
a prolific passing team can win today without a great or even good run game.

You're take is totally wrong.

Never. Jerry wants his expensive skill players and doesn't think and offensive line is needed.

Not really, the league is a passing league. We didnt lose because we couldn't run , we lost because of yet another bad mistake, and our defense choking like always.

We aren't a running team. We need to pass to win. Spread the offense out and let Romo sling it. It was dumb for us to try and establish the run when it wasn't working.

We need a short yardage running game. Yes, this is a passing league now. We don't need a running game that gets 150 yds a game. We need one that can get 3 yards when we need it.

You guys don't get it. If we could run the ball, we could've ran out the clock. I remember during the 90's when we got the ball with the lead and less than 10 minutes left, game over. The offensive line was over powering any team.

We have started building the offensive line. We've spent two first round picks in 3 years on the line. Its improving. Leary was not out of football last year, he was with the Cowboys working on things and he's been an average OL this year, and will probably get better again after this year. Leary is a success story not a negative. Everyone was calling for OL turn over after last year, we've been starting three new players this year, that's about as much turn over as you are ever likely to see.

The problem right now isn't running the ball. You do not have to run successfully to win currently, that's 90s and earlier thinking. You win throwing the ball. The running game is now the short to intermediate passing game to the TE and the RB.

Part of the problem is that the play calling only tries to run the ball from insulting obvious running formations.

Might as well be using a goal line formation for a lot of these runs.

The play where Dez was waving his hands, he had 1-on-1 coverage and I think he was the only WR out there.

That means there are 10 guys who are (for all intents and purposes) stacking the box because they know it's a run and it was a run.

Dallas often runs from formations when there is minimal passing threat. Pretty sure on one of the last couple runs Terrence Williams might have been the only WR on the field.

7 and 8 defenders in the box attacking the LOS will shut down most any running game...and passing game. Unless you can punish them for that approach this offense is buried.. We are making it easy for defenses...giving them a huge numbers advantage.

This is a failure of scheme and perhaps a failure of Romo to make teams pay.

You have to do different things to attack this: On one play max protect and go deep. On another run wide. Hit some screen plays....Roll Romo out.

I'm disappointed with the failure to adapt the scheme.

If the team is unwilling to pass in those situations so all they will do is run and it isn't getting the job done then yes the running game is a problem.

Running successfully isn't a prerequisite, you're right. That said, had the team been able to run successfully on that series before Detroits final drive then Dallas wins.

Hell, on the possession before that one with Romo throwing it away on 3rd down, even an unsuccessful run would have chewed enough clock to likely tilt the game in Dallas' favor.
