For the past several weeks us cowboy fans have been divided regarding the Terrell Owens situation. Some want him here and some don't. I understand youir'e position no matter what side you are on. But realize this, the cowboys have officially signed Me.O. For us Me.O haters(like me) out there, just realize that we can do about it. The only thing that we can do is hope for the best and prey that T.O. has cleaned up his act and contribute to the team and maybe lead us to our sixth super bowl championship. For those who wanted him here all along. Well I guess you got what you wanted. But at what cost? Hope you realize this is a big risk. Bigger than Charles Haley or Deion Sanders. If you fall into T.O.'s trap than so be it. Hate to tell you "I told you so". In the end we all have something in common, we all want to win as much as the next guy. Hopefully we can just sit back watch the games, let T.O. do his thing on the field just as long as he doesn't do it off the field. Now it's payback time for the deadskins for last season. Egirls are toast. And the gay-men defense are in for a treat. And the cowboy haters out there will have another reason to hate us even more, which is the best thing about this signing. All in all in due time we will find out if this is one of the greatest days in cowboy history or one of the darkest. But in the meantime let's all quit bashing each other and atleast try to enjoy the ride. And the only thing I got to say is, I love you'll man!:cry2: Let's go Cowboys!

Mark, TO is the ONE personality in the league I completely loathe. Just the complete lack of empathy he has shown for ex-teammates, the totally unnecessary slagging of Jeff Garcia, for example, makes me despise him. The suspicion that he is mentally ill does not justify or even mitigate his cruelty - he stinks, imo, as a team-mate, and as a human being.

I have also long considered him the best wide receiver in the league, and more than marginally superior to Randy Moss. Only Steve Smith shows signs of creeping NEAR TO's level in the next few seasons, imo.

His talent will never be enough to make me 'like' him, but just as Boys fans will tell you they learned to live with Deion, I guess we can all learn to live with TO.

I will tolerate him far better, tho, if he does the following things.

1. Actively stays out of the limelight. The press will hound him of course, but instead of his usual moth to the flames routine, he could prove himself a 'changed man' from the get-go by not allowing his manic eyes to light up like a jack o'lantern on meth every time he spies a camera lens. He could demonstrate that he doesn't have to be the center of attention by sneaking in the training back room door when he does his offseason conditioning and refraining to wear those ludicrous painted-on white tights on the sidelines in minicamp. He could prove he has reformed simply by muzzling himself and going about his business sans strutting, posing, and grandstanding. His remark today that he is "a star among stars" doesn't bode well, but who knows...he also said he has 'learned' from the past.

2. He shows public deference to Jerry, Bill and Drew. Meaning not that he kisses their feet, but that he recognizes they all have, in descending order, team spokeman perogatives far above his.

3. He never moans about how many balls are or are not coming his way, and makes a point of acting like a star AMONG stars, not a star OF stars.

I doubt he is enough to put the team deep into the playoffs, we are not a player or two away as the Eagles were two years ago, but I appreciate the fact we will get more attention, more coverage, more interviews, more national articles just because he is here. And possibly, more late season prime time games even if we're not in the hunt because the 'interest' factor will be so high. Just as the first year Bill was here, many eagerly awaited a Tuna-JJ showdown, one that never came, the anticipation of a TO meltdown will get the team more attention, even if it is somewhat negatively derived.

If he puts money in JJ's pocket, enlivens an essentially BORING offense, and makes a few high light reels while doing his job, then great.

At this point I sure don't see him as any savior, and don't see him as any destroyer either. He won't do to Dallas what he did to Philly. And he won't do FOR Dallas what he did for Philly. He's just an obnoxious talent who can make himself more palatable by showing off ON the field, and nowhere else.
