Can't win with Brad Johnson

The Cowboys' persona is derived from its explosive offense, and more specifically, its explosive passing offense. With Brad Johnson at the controls, the team just completely falls apart. While he doesn't make a lot of mistakes in the classic sense, his inability to make anything happen down the field becomes is a huge anchor tied around the team. We simply must find somebody who can at least function in the framework of what we need to do in the passing game.

If he doesn't make any mistakes, that's good enough for a couple of games if Romo is out for a small period of time.

Johnson played pretty damn well tonight. If he had been throwing to Owens and Witten he would looked even better.

You realize he has not played with TO, Witten or Barber, right?

It might be a bad time to bag on Johnson. He had over 8 yards per attempt and completed the longest pass play of the game to Amendola.

I agree. He played well enough for what he would be needed to do.

I was frustrated with him after SD but Brad has been doing his job since.

After the last two games I feel much better about Brad.

Johnson got the team to the Texans' goal line, but F Jones fumbled.

And Johnson threw a very good pass to Jefferson which Jefferson could not bring in.

I think Johnson did his job tonight.

If you want to get upset, it's the 3 turnovers we had and spotty STs play once again.

wow...just wow...he plays very well for the 2nd week in a row and we see this junk?

dude, he is the least of this teams worries...now garbage special teams and utterly horrendous pass coverage, shoddy run defense and mediocre pass rush- those are things to worry about

I'm not particularly worried. I'd hate for us to trade away a pick for somebody who might not be reliable or who might not be an upgrade. If someone is released who is 1) better than what we have 2) young enough to consider for the future and 3) and cheap enough for the role they would play.

I agree, especially Run Defense really concerns me. This team so far seems like more hype than substance, other than Offense. Defense still seems like same as last year. I think really, Tank is not the Beast at all, especially against the run.

Offense though, I think will be darn good, barring injuries. Seems like Backup Wrs continue to fall. Hopefully not for a long time though.

Very solid game by BJ tonight. ONe of the best since he's been a cowboy. Other worries far bigger than him IMO>

Uhhh, in the last 2 weeks, Brad has gone 18 of 25, for 221 yards, 1 TD and no ints... that's more than serviceable... in fact, it works out to a 112.3 quarterback rating...

And for the entire preseason, his line is 26 of 40 for 310 yards, 1 TD, 1 int... that's still a 65 per cent completion rate, 7.8 yards per attempt, and an 86.5 QBR...

I was also highly concerned about the backup QB situation right up until the Broncos game, but Johnson has put my mind pretty much at ease on that score... he'll do fine if Tony can't go for a game or two... the Boys will have to retool their passing game a bit, you're right that they won't have the same downfield, quick strike ability, but he can nickel and dime you to death...

Well fortunately for the CowBoys, Brad Johnson isn't a starter so we don't have to win with him. wow

BJ is the least of this teams problem.

He threw deep a couple of times..

Have you ever wondered why he does not throw it deep?

Maybe because he isn't trying to force the ball.

Try that answer if its not there BJ will not force it.

Yeah, Johnson was one of the players I've walked away the most impressed with the last two weeks. And this coming from a guy who has thought he's donkey dung from the day he was signed.

We're still screwed if Romo goes down for any stretch of time. But I'm fairly confident Johnson can step in and do the job for a quarter, a half, or a two or three (gulp!) game stretch.

can.t argue with that statement

Jeez, what do you want? This isn't Madden or Fantasy Football, starters aren't just gonna sit on the bench in case of emergency.

Oh! I know we can give Culpepper a call, he should bring that explosiveness (erratic play) that might make you happy!
