Cap dollars next year

Can anyone shed any light on next years cap ( if it is indeed uncapped ), in that if we cut players in the middle of their contract ( Flozell, R Williams, K Hamlin ) will the entire amount of their pro-rated contracts come due in that year so we want be penalized in the capped years to follow? Also, if we re-do existing contracts ( J Ratliff, B James ), will the pro-rated amount of their bonuses all hit in that year also?

Its seems like we could really work the system if this is possible.

Adam, I would really appreciate your input as well as anyone else.

I'm pretty sure that if you cut players and it's uncapped, its not going to count against you for the year after that.

You have to wait and let Adam explain all of that, he is our cap guru.

Why do you want to give Bradie a pay raise? I think he is fairly paid for his level of play.

Hamlin and RW are likely toast unless they pick up their level of play in the stretch here - it is not too late.

I'm a bit conflicted on Flo - I do think it is time to part ways. The decision would have been easier except for the unexpected Columbo issue. Plus, we didn't get a chance to see Brewster at all this year. McQ has proven that he is little more than a bottom roster player - his lack of growth over the years is astounding considering he came from a small college. He played better as a rookie than he did any other year.
It would be nice to see Ratliff get a pay raise. If anyone deserves it, it is him.

lol at Roy Williams getting cut.

He should be cut, but he probably won't be - JJ catches onto everything two years too late so RW will be cut after next season as everyone in the league knew the guy was toast by the end of last season.

If this season ends and the team can still expect next to nothing each game from him, the Jones' have to seriously consider taking the hit if the scenario is there to do so.

You are giving up much too early on Roy Williams. Agree he hasn't played like many of us thought/hoped he would. Part of that in 2008 was due to Romo's injuries, etc. We really need RW in December if we are to make a big push into the playoffs. We need good performances from RW to limit opponent double coverage on Austin during rest of season. I'm rooting for RW cause we really got nobody else who can viably help out Austin. Crayton is a #3 WR & will never be anything else & Hurd lacks speed to even got on the field. If Ogletree (?) knows enough plays, maybe we can use him a little more--if our OC can come up with enough plays to get him in there & move Austin, etc., around.

It's not really possible. There is no acceleration into the uncapped year. If you cut a player on or before June 1, his prorations remain in the years to which they were allocated. If you cut a player after June 1, all of his future prorations accelerate into the following year. Take, for example, a player signed through 2012 who has a $3 million bonus proration allocated against the cap each season. If he gets cut in April, that $3 million cap charge will remain on the books for 2010, 2011 and 2012. If he gets cut in August, the $3 million for 2010 will remain, and the other $6 million will be on the books for 2011.

And any signing bonuses given out in 2010 will be prorated over six seasons.

That's what I thought. I thought you'd put something up before about how there is no way to get around the cap hit of the signing bonuses just because you cut the guy in an uncapped year. They'd still hit you at some point afterwards as well. Thanks for the information Adam.
