With the Snyders of the world blowing the cap up this offseason, its nice to know that our FO still knows a little something about keeping the books.
What this team does have and will continue to have is cohesion and chemistry across the OL, at a discount.
Nice job on this one Jerry!

Marc Colombo
- two-year, $7 million deal that includes a $4 million signing bonus.

Leonard Davis - seven-year, $49.6 million

Andre Gurode - six-year, $30 million contract.

Kyle Kosier - 2009: $2.63 million, 2010: $2.99 million

Flozell Adams - six-year, $43.8 million contract.
The deal contains $15 million in guarantees, including a $13 million signing bonus.
2009: $1 million
2010: $5 million
2011-2013: $5.1 million
2014: Free Agent
Cap charges: $3.6 million (2009), $7.6 million (2010), $7.7 million (2011-2013).

Jerry has done a good job with the cap, that is for sure.

Danny Snyder has made a mockery of the cap, I am sure the other owners are pretty pissed at him right now. He better watch out, or he is going to get a beat-down at the next owner's meeting.

Yeah he and Stephen have done a nice job of learning the cap and not crippling themselves.

Yes, but the media is claiming Dallas has cap problems because we didn't re-sign Chris Canty. In reality, we could've easily re-signed Canty and still re-signed Ware without a problem.

But hey, the media has sources, so they are 'just doing their job.'

YAKUZA
good grief

I can hear the owners chant now as Jerry leads Danny boy to the restroom: SWIRLEY, SWIRLEY, SWIRLEY!

Obviously, the days of Cap h*ll are long gone. Washington continues to throw rediculous amounts of money around with little to no affect on their salary cap from year to year.

Unfortunately what you miss is that the Commanders understand the cap as well. You don't think they have smartly structured deals? Come on, cap management isn't brain surgery. It really isn't that difficult.

Philly wouldn't have resigned Canty for that kind of money... Neither would P-burg.

$42 mil for that stiff is a joke.

REALLY? No, not at all.

We gave huge deals to Flo and Hamlin. Both sucked last year. There is little if any chance we will cut either due to their terrible performances. Why? Because we'd take a major cap hit.

With Flo especially, we've gone down the road that got us in trouble in the past, signing old talent that maybe has a couple of good years left to mega deals.

I agree. For some reason, Canty's legend seemed to outgrow him in the last 7 days. He's an average D lineman, nothing more.

Of course, last year we could have probably got this done for about 30 mill over 6 years

He's an above average player with the potential to be something very special. That's why he was sought after. A guy like Igor O is less popular b/c he's already playing at or near his best. Teams look at Canty and think -- wow, our staff could really help him reach that potential.

It's not hard to manage the cap now. cap room in 95 was something like 40 million, now it's a 127 million, pretty easy..... Shoot if we wanted cap space all we need to do is cut RW, Ellis and a couple others and bam we have 12 mil extra available . then restructure a couple more contracts and bam another 9 mil, we go from 15 mil available to 35+.
