Someone mentioned cutting Armstrong?? What is his savings?

Free to me is just a matter of time.

Vickers is said to be safe? He is a good mentor for Dez it is believed.

Very minimal savings to cut Armstrong. His salary is 630K and due to the rule of 51 the savings would just be the difference between his salary and the player that replaces him in the top 51 salaries.

The max savings from cutting Armstrong would be about 200K.

I'm having a hard time figuring out who it might be. I was thinking one of the young guards, like Arkin, but he'd be the same situation as Armstrong, not enough savings to really make it worth it.

Not having a spreadsheet, is there a site that is pretty accurate for listing the salaries player by player?

Currently, the 52nd salary cap player counts 480K.

David Arkin is at 688K.

The savings from cutting Arkin and moving #52 to #51 would be 208K; however, 226K of prorated bonus money from Arkins contract would accelerate into the cap, making it a net loss of 18K under the salary cap.

Spotrac is probably the best fan site to view player salary information. It's free and pretty detailed. I know AdamJT13 said they didn't have all the information but it will at least get you in the ball park.

your numbers are off slightly for free and vickers.

vickers would save 1m, he has 200k guaranteed.(probably why he hasnt already been cut)

free has crazy extension money to factor in. ---should have been a post june 1st cut but alas... that's apparently not to be.

spotrac is actually fairly accurate. until adamjt13 decides to provide full details that is as close as we'll get.

Vickers has 100K prorated remaining from his 200K signing bonus. That 100K + 1.2M base count as a 1.3M hit against the cap. Without his 1.2M base, his dead-money is 100K which is a savings of 1.2M compared to his current hit of 1.3M.

Free would have 8.35M in dead-money if cut now vs his current cap hit of 11.175M. The diff is 2.8M.

Spotrac is off on Free's contract. They show 4 years remaining; however, he signed a 4 year contract in the summer of 2011, not a 6 year contract.

Free extended last year adding 2 seasons and 16m.

see #9.

On Vickers: gotcha. The 200k was just SB, initially looked like it was a guaranteed portion of his base this year.

So does Free only have one more season after this?

Where does it say he was extended? All I see in your link is Clayton listing it as a 6yr deal for 48.

Thanks for the website. Could you help me understand what the "Dead Money" category means on Sportac? Is that what they would count against the cap if they were cut this year?

If so, why would Romo's Dead Money be $13.5M?

Thanks for any explanations!

There are voidable years 2014-2016(that are voided) that still have bonus money that would have to be accounted for if he was cut.

If you see on the breakdown for Romo, if he is on the roster through 2013, the last years of his deal are voidable. That is fine for the salaries, they just go "poof", but the remaining pro rata bonus has to be accounted for still. All those numbers under the "other" row would be added to make his hit if we cut him now. So we could cut him today for a 3.3m savings! :)

Ahh ... is that like a player's option or a team option? and how is that figured?

In 2014 it listed a base of 12.5M and Misc. as 3.273M,
so cap hit made sense at 12.5 + 3.273 = 15.773M, but where does an 8,181,00 Dead Money hit come from? The signing bonus has already been prorated out, right?

Since they are voided the numbers other than misc. bonus don't mean anything. If they weren't voidable the 8.181 would have been the dead money if he was cut in 2014.
