Obviously, the salary cap seems to climb a little every year. In some years the increase is much greater than others. Player contracts also seem to escalate in step with the cap increases.
This is more of an ADAMJT13 type question more than anything else, but, doesn't it make sense to re-up players' contracts earlier and earlier now than before. I am thinking about Newman, specifically in this regard.
Wouldn't it make sense to re-up him a year before his contract expires? I realize that the downside is he could get hurt and you would have to eat his salary for a longer period and there might be some cap implications for the early resigning. I am all ears.
