2012 promises to be a good FA market. How much room will we have to sign free agents?

I know there is a lot of money left over from the cuts we made this year, which will limit us a bit. But if we could get two big names, like Mario Williams and Carl Nicks I think it would go a long way to improving our team.

maybe we can put most of their first year salary into signing bonus since the following years we won't have the dead space issues we'll have next year.

I recall that Adam has us forecast to be about $20 million under the CAP entering next season. Way better than this season. The number will change if we sign anybody else this year, since part of that number will be a roll in from remaining dollars from this year.

We should be in position to sign a few guys if needed. A solid young guard, might be helpful.

hahaha, it would "go a long way" if we added carl nicks AND mario williams.

Adding two players of that caliber to any team would make them ridiculous.

Nice:cool:

If we could get Mario Williams opposite of Ware that would be a nightmare for teams. Then we could get Grubbs or Nicks at guard and maybe also Cordy Glenn in the draft and our interior line would be fixed.

If we can make the right moves in FA next year I think we could really make a run in 2012.

if we get mario williams it will be because houston went under as a football team. Stop dreaming fellows

Agreed. Mario Williams will be franchised. Then franchised again if need be. They will resign him.

Carl Nicks is a possibility though, if they can't get a contract done for Brees and they need to franchise him or they don't have cap room to keep him, brees, colston, and porter.

But even that is mostly a pipe dream, they will resign nicks most likely.

Even if Mario became a FA, I could see him wanting to go back to a 4-3 team.

He is a prototype 4-3 DE. Houston's move to a 3-4 is odd to me.

Didnt the CBA prevent guys from being franchised more than once?

This old soldier can still dream...sign me up for Super Mario and Nicks.

with 20 plus in dead money tied against the cap next, I don't expect much business in the free agent market next year either, maybe a couple second tier players, like Elam and Coleman this year.. Dallas is rebuilding, whether jerry will admit it or not..

I just want Calasis Campbell, Carl Nicks, and Fred Davis and resign Spencer, Elam, and Sensy.
