Right now as we speak Dallas is 1,606,609 over the cap.

The smartes thing Dallas could do is offer Ware a contract similar to what Suggs got. Something that would take Ware's cap hit to around 6.5 to 8mil for that first yr. Ill go with Suggs areacode and go with 7.5. That would free up 8,503,750 on the cap.

Dallas would then be 6,897, 141 under the cap

Then Restructure Witten and clear 4,045,000

Dallas would then be 10,942,141 under the cap

Dallas doesnt have to restructure Witten or anyone else for that Matter after getting this Ware deal or cut out of the way. But Jerry wants to win now. Like it or hate it, Jerry wants to prove people wrong in the worst way. He knows Romo's career is getting shorter. I know this wouldnt be a favorite of the people on this forum who look at the Cowboys cap like it their money Jerry is playing with. But its who he is. Win or fail Jerry is going to go out and get what he thinks the team needs.

I think they will do a restructure like Witten to get under the cap, negotiating with Ware under any kind of time deadline decreases their leverage with him even though they already have plenty. Get under the cap by the 11th, then lay down the law with Ware.

Restructure Witten to get under the cap. Try to get Ware to accept a large pay cut. If he balks, then wait until after the draft to deal with Ware. See what we get in the draft and what is still available in FA after the dust settles and then make Ware an ultimatum.

Can someone give us an update on the current cap and how all these restructured deals will look in 2014, 2015, 2016
IE. What will the numbers look like for the overall cap, the cap hit for Romo, Witten, Scandrick, Carr and other big contracts. Is there hope at the end of the cap rainbow or is it just wishful thinking for the cowboys?

Romo's 2015 cap charge currently after restructure = $28 million

Look for another restructure next year, I think either 2 or 3 restructures were built into Romo's contract extension.

Safe to say that Romo will retire a Cowboys, no way in hell we can trade or release him without massive cap penalty. To illustrate this, consider that if we traded Romo tomorrow (like a lot of threads are advocating), we would have a $51 million dollar cap penalty assessed...............obviously we cannot afford that without gutting the entire roster.

If they were to cut Ware and Austin immediately, they could be near Zero in dead-money in 2015. For reference, the dead-money was about 30M in 2013.

That would leave them with only Romo, Witten and the long snapper as the only over 30 players under contract for 2015.

The salary cap was about 121M in 2013. It is expected to increase to 150M in 2016.
