Makes it even crazier that the Eagles wouldn't trade for Boldin with 23Mill under the cap.

thats the eagles, but they did try to trade for boldin though;

but the cardinals were asking way too much, from what i heard, the eagles offered a 1st and 3rd, cardianals wants a 1, 3 and a 5th, plus eagles would have had to pay boldin like 10 million a year;

With the added possibility of the un-capped year, rocks for us! :(

even if it is uncapped, the jumps in salaries some of our players have is scary..

Tony Romo 2009 Base Salary - $620,000 / 2010 Base Salary - $8.5 M
Marion Barber 2009 Base Salary - $620,000 / 2010 Base Salary - $3.86 M
Flozell Adams 2009 Base Salary - $1 M / 2010 Base Salary $5 M
Leonard Davis 2009 Base Salary - $750,000 / 2010 Base Salary $5 M
Terrence Newman 2009 Base Salary - $895,000 / 2010 Base Salary $ 9 M

With just these 5 players we take a Cap Increase of $27,475,000 in 2010.

Are you sure? That doesn't make sense that Romo and Newman would both be getting such huge increases next year even though they just signed contracts.

Two thinks on that, and I knowsome of you are going to say im nuts;
but i think if mikens is good, along with jenkins and scandrick improving, i think either the cowboys will trade newman or let him go, also i think this might be the last year for flozell too, still dont think Newmans contract is that big though

Newman's cap hit if cut after this year is $10 M.. if cut before 2011, the cap hit would be $8 M.

He signed a 6-year deal with a signing bonus of $12 M.
2009 Cap Hit $2.895 M (895,00 base + 2 M pro-rated bonus) Age 31
2010 Cap Hit $11 M Age 32
2011 Cap Hit $10 M Age 33
2012 Cap Hit $8.016 M Age 34
2013 Cap Hit $9,600,417 Age 35
2014 Cap Hit $9.5 M Age 36
2015 Free Agent Age 37

*These are just the basic cap numbers. He could potentially have performance and voluntary workout bonuses that can kick in. Adam somehow knows even those numbers.

I'm a big Newman fan but with his Cap Numbers and age, there is no way he sees the end of that contract.

thanks chris, wow i forgot his contract was so high, but the cap hit salary wise isnt so big, now what the cowboys could do, is like get ready to release or trade newman by 2012, because by that time he will be 33 and really slowing down by then along with his injury problems;

i think scandrick, menkins and jenkins can fill that void;
maybe even one of the young cbs in michael irvins show can fill one of those 4th cbs slots;

Isn't that true with most players not in their rookie deals?

more so with Newman though because he was older than the average rookie when he was drafted.

Also, I think DB's, WR's, and RB's are affected by age more than other positions. Offensive linemen and QB's are usually better after a few years in the league.

Daryl Green. But he is the exception. If Newman can stay healthy I think he could play thru the contract at a high level. High enough. But the salary does appear burdensome now.

I think they will cross those bridges as they come up although I'm certain they are always looking ahead.

We only have 3 starting quality CBs right now. Too soon to be unloading the top dog.
