Cap space for All our Fa’s

Didn’t we all know this. Only fans of other teams that didn’t know Dallas had $100 million in cap space next year and wanted to criticize the deal jumped onto the cap hell bandwagon. They can sign anyone they want now or next year and the year after when the new CBA kicks in. When that happens, these deals will look like bargains. Players like DLaw will be getting $25-28 million a year in 2 years.

Everyone forgets it’s going up an average of 10 mil every year too.

Figured I’d post after the Lawrence deal.

The challenge is the Cowboys have 30-some free agents and restricted free agents come next off-season.

And that's on top of trying to get new contracts for Cooper, Prescott and possibly Elliott.

That cap space will be chewed up quickly.

First years of deals are always low . Smart to push the bigger cap hits towards the end when the cap will be higher .

It won't be a challenge to lock up the core next year

If we cut Crawford, we get another 9 million, I believe.
I'm a Crawford fan, but 2019 is probably his last year.

I expect Crawford will end up getting extended like Free was. A paycut with an extension that guarantees the 9 or 10 mill he was going to get in 2020 by spreading it over two years.

This is good thinking. Try to extend him while he is down. Similar to Gregory but obviously not at such a cheap price. I think Brown should be approached with an extension offer as well. He has never seen any real money. Probably could be extended at a decent rate and avoid having several CB's being F.A. next year. I think I would try to Extend Jaylon now as well. He could end up being a hot commodity if his play continues with it's current trajectory.

Enough to retain Dak, Cooper, Byron, Quinn, and still improve through the draft and trades. Fantastic.

Could be. The team likes him. Decent backup for three spots on the Dline, if he takes the paycut you are describing, it would be a good move, especially since our Dline could look drastically different in 2020.

It is supposed to be chewed up .... the idea is to get to 0m every year

Plus we have to add 10 Draftees for the next 2 years..... they are cheap too

50% of the team makes less than 10% of the cap.....that is 27 players for 20m

that leaves 26 players for 180m plus any rollover

If Dak has a bad year then they'll actually be in better shape because they won't have to commit 20+mil to him.
