So maybe Adam can shed some light here but we have close to 20 million in cap space this year, but we have some dead money from cut players too.
So what kinda of cap space are we gonna have next year? Does the new CBA require teams to spend a percentage of cap space very year?

I don't know the exact numbers , but I read an artcle recently stating that next year the team would be in great shape without all the dead money .

part of it really depends on who we sign this year too

Yeah, it all depends on who they sign and who they cut this year. If they sign a bunch of high $ players, restructure contracts, and cut some players that will create dead money then next year's cap space won't be nearly as much as it looks to be right now. The only thing we can really know right now is that it should be much better after the dead money is gone. How much better depends on what they do between now and then.

I recall AdamJt13 saying that if we designate Tnew as a June 1 cut, our Cap Space will be $23 million this year.

Figure $3million for our rookies under the new CBA.

So that gives us $20 million to signs FAs, ours and others.

We could take care of what we have to for our own like Robinson and company; and even if we have to (gag) franchize Spencer we could get one high FA or two medium FA.

And the Cap will go up about $5 million at least next year; and from 2014 on the new TV money will up it probably at least $10 million a year.

So with a little creative work on any FA contracts we could do a lot and still be OK.

I think so too, even if we franchise Spencer.

Worst case, JJ restructures a couple of contracts to free up another $3-4mm if absolutely necessary. That in itself would take care of the rookie draft picks.

Next year will be a huge change -- starting in 2013 all NFL teams will have to spend a minimum of 89% of the salary cap annually in cash or be subject to fines and potential loss of draft picks.

There will no longer have the traditional NFL cheapskates having 40-60 million available under the cap.

What it means is that there will be a LOT more money in play for FAs and that NFL parity will be enforced even more than it ever has before.

The previous floor expired in 2009. So in 2010 and 2011 teams like Tampa and company could get away with spending very little. which is why they have so much to spend right now.

Makes me laugh that in a year when they HAVE to spend there is not that much available.
