Cap tracker for all teams

Look at some of these hits:

Tony Romo QB 11,500,000 - 5,728,000 17,228,000
Brandon Carr CB 14,300,000 2,000,000 - 16,300,000
DeMarcus Ware LB 5,500,000 5,303,000 1,418,750 12,221,750
Doug Free T 7,000,000 4,175,000 - 11,175,000
Miles Austin WR 6,732,000 1,570,000 - 8,302,000
Jason Witten TE 5,500,000 2,500,000 - 8,000,000
Jay Ratliff DT 5,000,000 2,000,000 - 7,000,000
Dan Connor LB 3,000,000 1,350,000 - 4,350,000
Dez Bryant WR 1,557,500 390,000 1,935,000 3,882,500
Gerald Sensabaugh S 3,000,000 750,000 - 3,750,000
Morris Claiborne CB 1,129,296 2,567,182 - 3,696,478

Free, Austin, Ratliff, Connor and Sensabaugh should not be among the highest paid on our team.

We can restructure Ware, Romo, Austin, and Witten to cut the cap down bit and release Free.

we can release Sensabuagh and save some money but wouldn't be worth it.
He will be a 3.75 million cap hit
releasing him will only be a 3.45 million cap hit
cut him after next year then he will only be a 1.5 million cap hit

What about Rat, Free, and Miles

What about FB Lawrence Vickers?

His reported 2013 cap hit isn't big ($1.3M), but $1.2M of it is base salary.

He's only a role player, but I was underwhelmed by what I saw this season.

There's a lot of talk about upgrading the OL, why not FB, too?

Minnesota Vikings FB Jerome Felton and Houston Texans FB James Casey are both set to hit the market.

Ratliff would be bad to release
he will be a 10.378 million cap hit if released or a 5.2 million cap hit if a june 1st cap hit but then also a 5 million cap hit for next year

If we keep him he will be a 7 million cap hit

So making Ratliff a june 1st cap hit hit will save us 1.8 million this year but will be a 5 million dead money cap hit in 2014

Free needs to be released
If kept he will be a 11.175 million cap hit
If released he will be a 8.35 million cap hit saving us 2.825
or a june 1st cap hit and be a 4.2 million cap hit this year saving us 7 million but will be 4 million in dead money cap hit in 2014

Miles
If we keep Austin he will be a 8.3 million cap hit
If released he will be a 4.71 million cap hit
releasing him will be a 3.59 million savings

Stephen Jones: Capologist

this list just pisses me off
ticks me off too. seeing playoff teams like the colts, skins and bengals at the bottom of that list shows how broken things are in dallas. there are serious cultural and institutional issues with this franchise.

Lawrence vickers can be cut with only a 100,000 cap hit and will save 1.2 million

he needs to be cut or restructure his contract

It's unfortunate what happened between Ratliff and Jerry. This put us in a real tough position with him.

Free is as good as gone.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Miles. I want to give him one more year but he carries a huge cap hit.

Does it include 5M penalty?

Unless they threw it on offense, it may not be there.

wow, can't draft, hire coaches, make trades or manage the cap. it is possible we have the worst GM in the league.

Nope. We'd have to add another 5 mil to that deficit. This pretty much spells the end of Miles and Free's tenure here. Plus restructures are needed if we want to be active in FA.
