I believe thats what will happen, it appears to me Parcells is grooming him to take over.

That's not a bad thing. But if the chance to get someone like Charlie Weis come alone. I would take it in a quick second.

Ive been told thats why Zimmer turned down the Nebrasksa job , Bill told him its prob. his job.....unless a Weis or somebody big became available that catches Jerry's eye

....I mean, we know its not going to be Sean Payton(By the way, anyone else think Paytons going to have a good year in NO)?

)?

yeah, but then last yr he was interviewed by the Rams for their head coaching job...so that kinda shoots that theory down doesnt it?

also, reports are the Rams were totally unimpressed

Zimmer: "I'm going to signal in the "Willie Blade" play."

Parcells: "Isn't making fart sounds with your arm pit a little obvious?"

Yep, I heard same report re Rams interview of Zimmer. Also thought it very interesting even before the interview that the Cowboys didn't step in before the interview and tell Zimmer that (at least) he would be among top 2-3 (final) candidates for Cowboys HC job when Parcells leaves.

Frankly I don't want Zimmer as HC after Parcells cause I'm afraid Jerry Jones would resume his former tight control of Cowboys. Put simply Zimmer does not have the cache to keep a lid on Jones interference in coaching affairs. I want a known, proven commodity. Weiss is good but doubt he leaves ND and certainly there other branches off the Parcells tree who we would want. Also since I think Parcells sticks around for 07 season (particularly if we do very well in postseason play) maybe Holmgren or even Cowher might be available in 2 years or so or somebody else's availabiliy might surprise us.

Zimmer is just like Sean Payton. has great experience and known for getting the job done. But the only difference between Zimmer and Payton. Payton has coached in the superbowl before as the Giants head coach offensive cordinator.

actually Payton had those duties stripped from him at the end of the season that year, I think it was the last 6 games of the regular season

Dallas D-Coordinator Mike Zimmer channels Buddy Ryan and punches Bill Parcells after Parcells barred him from using the Cover 2 for one defensive series.

The Giants in the Super Bowl season in 2000 got by on their ferocious defense that year. Payton had his play calling duties stripped in 2002 and the Giants offense exploded that year when Fassel took over.
