That’s pretty cool. It’s like a foreign language. Pretty impressive to be able to say the language of the offense, snap the ball, read the defense, find the WR and throw a catchable ball; all within 10 or 15 seconds from calling the play to the play ending.

I remember a while back Joey Galloway was asked to do a full play call and he smiled at the camera and laughed because he couldn’t do it. He said he just knew his part of the call but couldn’t recite a whole play.

I’d be curious to know the average IQ of QBs and I bet it would be higher than most other pro athletes.

Actors are also pretty intelligent too, lol. I wonder how many times they had to shoot that to get it right.

Play designs are difficult for anyone to repeat. Language may be similar from team to team, but it is generally different in terminology and definition between teams. Retaining details is practiced repetition.

Tua Tagovailoa could have asked the same question of a room filled with all starting quarterbacks of his fellow 31 teams. The overwhelming majority would have struggled to repeat the same play and not nearly as quickly as he had recited it. Anyone who did would have been familiar with the same information they had learned from the same coaches' playbook in the past.

I also want to throw in I’m glad that Tua is this sharp and can spit it out that quickly and precisely. His concussions were scary and it’s good to see him not displaying any ongoing symptoms.

I do not know the backstory behind that particular scene, but have wondered over the years. I believe it was likely not that difficult.

Patrick Stewart's voice was an overlay. The audience hears him say the code. Brent Spiner's lips moved. I can see both actors reading the same script with Spiner's delivery muted in the audio. It was only necessary for Spiner to match Stewart's tempo reading the code aloud.

Yeah not buying it. These guys have been QB's since before high school and have been calling plays since then. Tua is 27 so he has been calling plays for 10+ years. Additionally last year he signed a 4 year $212M contract to know how to make those play calls.
