I'd take Hatcher over Ware, at this point, in a heart beat.

I know its hard to speculate and know whats in the mind of a player, but I genuinely don't believe that Hatcher is playing for his contract. I really think he wants to be a winner. Maybe I'm just ignorant, but he seems way different than the Tank Johnson's of the world.

I agree. He wants money, and he wants to win. But he's a good guy to have on your side in a bar fight. It's tough, though, because he's older, and he's definitely going to get paid.

If there was some magical way to erase Ware and his cap, I would take Hatcher over him in a second. Not sure there is room for both

Man. I don't think it's a good idea to extend Hatcher at his age or what's sure to be his expense, but I think he's really, really good to have on this team. Anyone want to argue that he wouldn't give you more than Ware going foreword the next three seasons?

The other side of the coin is that he is having a terrific season, DT is a position of need and Jerry doesn't like to let anyone walk if they are needed. IMO they will resign Hatcher and Spencer both, sign a new DT and draft a DT in the upper rounds. Then have a rotation like this:

DE - Spencer/Crawford
DT - FA and Hayden
DT - Hatcher, Nevis and Draft Pick
DE - Ware and Selvie

It could be a repeat of the OL situation from this year, turning a huge weakness into a plus.
