VW and many of the japanese and South Korean Hyundai is catching up to japanese, brand cars are pretty reliable in higher mile areas. Not sure about the years on those but now days they seem to be better quality than many of the american cars.

I took that into consideration when I have been looking at cars now as well.

Did you try www.autotrader.com you may find some deals on there from local dealers.

It seems like you are a very limited budget so it may be hard to get a car without having huge amount of miles on it. But if you have to go with one with a large amount of miles you are better off with the foreign cars IMO.

none of those have caught up to american cars though

I got the '93 VW Passat wagon, such a sahweet car, it has a 20 watt amp, snow tires, and extra snow tires, has a rack, the 6-CD changer, leather interior, sun-roof, 147,000 miles, but that still gives me a couple of years, maybe even 4, he was orginally asking for 1700, but he knocked it down to 1,250, and I haggled it down to 1150, the reason is that the passenger-side power-lock window doesn't work, and it has some scrapes on the body, but other than that, it's a fine vehicle for what I paid for, and then some
