I watched it for the first time tonight too. At least he's a better host than football player at the moment... which isn't saying much.

Oh come on now. This guy has had a great career and has put it all on the line more that any of us know. He has given his all to the game and while it's true that his playing days are over I think he should get more respect than that. He was the type of player that makes the NFL great. What did he have, 128 consecutive starts? You don't do that in the NFL by being a wuss.

To be honest, I don't get the Eddie George hate. Like rick said, he was a very solid player for a long period of time in this league, and always played with a tremendous amount of class. He wasn't a productive player here, but he bit his tongue during an odd period of time in his career and, IMO, did not do anything to disgrace the star.

Well a 3.3 YPC season gets you some hate. I mean, that's a full 0.2 YPC less than JJ has this year.

How many times did Parcells allow him to run? You don't get many backs who can bust loose when getting 5 carries per game.....and inactive every other one.

I don't know that's it's hate. I think most people are indifferent to him. He never felt like a cowboy and didn't much while he was here. I'll never really consider A-Train a cowboy either for similar reasons.

In the 9 games prior to Baltimore (when JJ took over) Eddie averaged 14 runs a game. That is a considerable # of carries per game -- and more than enough opportunity to bust loose. By comparison, a back like Tatum Bell -- gets fewere than 10 runs a game but has bust loose for eight 20 yard plus runs.

Eddie just didn't have it. What really annoyed BP was that George came out and said he was the kind of back who needed 30 runs to be effective. Against Detroit last year Eddie had 20 yards for about 85 yards -- BP gave him the ball over and over in the 4th quarter -- and he managed 11 carried for 14 yards. BP said "show me" and Eddie showed he didn't have it.

Add to that several short yardage situations where Eddie failed to get a first down -- including a couple where he just didn't hit the hole hard enough and you have a classic case of a back who looked done. His YPC average might have looked similar to previous years but his short yardage game stank.

That and the fact that Eddie is no longer working anywhere in this league should tell you that it's not Parcells fault Eddie was unsuccessful here. He's just used up.

Hey Einstein, put the calculator down. He was a player in this league and did well for himself. Like Dale said, he did not disgrace the Cowboys while he was here.

Thanks, I appreciate the Einstein comparison. I always assumed I was the most intelligent poster here and now you've confirmed that.

I agree and I'm happy for him. I hope it works out and he enjoys it. Sounds like a fun job... matching gamers up with the pro. Making some dreams come true...
