Polk is way too slow (4.78 40) & a mediocre pass rusher to play effectively at OLB. He is strictly a strongside ILB b/c his strengths are big hits and attacking the LOS.
Polk is very good in ST & would be a big body on goal line situations. Although he is big 6'2 260, he gets nicked up quite a bit, probably b/c he doesn't get low enough consistently when initiating contact.
Also knows Wade's system could back up Bradie (& Ellis, in a pinch).
Even though he's on the wrong side of 30, still like him better than Rogers.
Although, I would much rather take a chance on a true playmaker, see if lightning can strike twice this season at ILB_go and get Dan Morgan, stash him on IR this season if necessary (injury not concussion related), but the guy is a hammer who will hit and cover, can play both ILB spots AND would come cheap. And while he is as injury prone (or more) than Burnett, having pro bowl calibre ability at a backup spot would be sweet.
