How was Sedona?
Did you like it?
A bunch of new agers and holistic crystal aura casing-liner's have took root up there,,,oh,ya! and the space alien club sits out at nights watching also, to bad you couldn't drive the 89A oak creek canyon hyway,it's cool toolingo_O
It is a bucket list type thing. No actual list but ya.

Sedona has great views of the surrounding mountain area and great views of the stars at night. Many changing colors on the rock formation from the suns movement i guess. I am not use to the dry air, it messed me up. The restaurants on the main ave area looked really good, i only ate at one the night we got into Sedona, it was very good i forgot the name, i was drained from the flight and drive. I went to the Grand Canyon as well, that was overwhelming, it was so overwhelming it looked fake and felt unreal. I'm a city boy, i never seen anything so overwhelming as the Grand Canyon except for maybe pictures of deep space/universe.

I took that last 'next ex wife' up to the G.C. we did the flying cargo bus thing, and you can really see so much more of it,,,I'd almost forgot to stash my back pocket .380 in the trucks glove box before boarding that touring plane, they wouldn't have known the differenceo_O

I think my mother and some of her sisters did that period steam engine train ride from Flagstaff and back a couple of years ago:)

I plan on doing a few things. PeopIe i'm going with want to go seaworld, san diego zoo, some aquarium i forget which one. I wanted to go to a Laker game but they will be on the east coast when i arrive. I never been in the Pacific Ocean, i gotta go in for a few minutes and i will be going in even if its just for a few seconds.
Coronado not bad. Can get bay side or ocean side. If you get to LA and Malibu, do Paradise Cove. Rent a wet suit though.

Locals wear jackets and other long sleeved clothing in 70 degree sunny weather here, that’s strange to me. Looks like they will show the Cowboy game on tv Sunday. :starspin:

I've only been to CA once back in Sept, that was only LAX, landed, rented car, and drove to Sedona AZ. So i been doing some research on Carlsbad CA, i'm heading there soon early December. Restaurants in the area seem good. I'll be checking out LA and San Diego as well.

What i want to do is swim in the Pacific Ocean, but i'm thinking the water is going to be way to cold. Weather Channel site says average temp will be 63 degrees outside with a water temperature around 60. Do people swim there in December? I'm guessing they don't.

Avoid LA like the plague. The traffic there is AWFUL and they are tops in psychos per capita. Btw, @Trouty is from there. See what I mean? He's a freaking psycho!

San Diego is nice. I lived there as a kid for a while. (around 1980) Imperial Beach was a five minute walk from my house. (prior to it being closed, then re-opened)

San Francisco is an awesome place to visit too. (lived there in (Alameda) around 1983-4)

Yea, took me awhile to figure that out also. Basically, there is a small window for the warmer weather in mid to late afternoon. Before and after, it gets chilly, especially from the wind off the Pacific.

We would head out in the morning, jacket needed, and shed some clothes when it warmed up. A few hours later, jacket is needed again :D

The weather is fickle along the coast.

I never used a wet suit in my life and i'm not fond of having to rent one and use it. Do they clean these things properly? I may have to just buy a new one.

The downside is they do not clean them properly. Upside is if you have to go really bad, you can just pee in them because nobody checks.

Either way, you'll be glad you had one if you want to swim in the ocean. Well worth it.

You can buy them affordably at Costco or whatever and just take it with you, too, btw. You don't have to go crazy on one.

Sedona/Oak Creek is great. The Canyon is surreal. I just went up to St. Georges Utah this summer. I'd never been there before, but it's 90 mins or less from Vegas, Lake Powell, the North Rim of the Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon. Thinking about bringing the family back in a year or two for some strippers/adventure tourism.

That's got nothing whatsoever to do with your post. Just thought I'd share it.

It’s very nice in so cal. Did 5 mile walk in Carlsbad today, nice views. I jumped into pacific for a minute at Coronado state beach, scratching that one off my bucket list.

Is the Hotel del Coronado still all run down? My step mother used to work there back around 1980. Last time I saw the place it wasn't looking so good.

Is that the Hotel at the end of the Coronado Bridge?

It's around 140 years old. It used to be a place all the stars went to hang out way back when.

This one.

I think I’m right next door to it now. It looks ok. I’m eating lunch at brigantine seafood across the street.
