Actually, I think it's a blue panther and the black is shadow.

I think the Panthers have one of the nicest helmet designs in the league. Matches up with their black jerseys very nicely.

There are certain logos that suck and will always suck. The Carolina logo is one of them.

I like it. I think Carolina's one of the few newish teams in any major sports that actually hit a home run with their original branding. I think the logo is sharp and love the color scheme.

It's not a new logo ... it's only a slightly modified logo.

This could have been a good time for a more radical change, what with Newton as the fresh face of the franchise and giving new hope to their fans.

Ummm..how about a different perspective? A new design entirely? Just slightly altering the outlines isn't a "redesign".

The bluejay isn't much different but it looks better in this logo over the cardinal logo.

I disagree. It's a considerable step in the the wrong direction.

*Tries to hard to be more "realistic". Logos should be stylized - they age better.
*Has a hunched back, which looks dumb, and disrupts the profile.
*The grey, in addition to contributing strongly to making it too busy in terms of colors (three is a good rule of thumb, four is pushing it), makes it look old instead of fierce.
*The heck is that tuft on the chin?

The end result is a busy image of an old, broken down, greybearded animal. Hardly the image Carolina wants to project.

You're right, the new "sassy catfish" look is MUCH better
