Seems to me that the team is trying to save his job:
Panthers' center Ryan Kalil said it would be a mistake to fire coach John Fox and his staff this offseason.
"I think we've got a great group of guys across the board, especially with the defense with the new guys we've got there and (defensive coordinator) Ron Meeks," Kalil said. "I think coach Fox is a great coach and I think it would be a mistake to make any kind of changes. I don't think there's going to be any kind of changes.
"I do believe we have a good thing going on here in Carolina. I think obviously keeping everybody here is going to bring us closer to who we want to be and what we want to get done next season."
Kalil said offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson is not to blame for the team's woes on offense.
"As far as offense is concerned and our coordinator I thought he did a great job all year," Kalil said. "There isn't one game where I said to myself, 'What are we doing? What are we calling?' The plays were there to be made.
"Toward the end of the season the defense has been playing lights up and they gave us plenty of opportunities and we just didn't capitalize on them because of things like third downs conversions and turnovers and penalties. Those are things that aren't so much coaching but on accountability of the players and lack of focus and making sure we are lined up right, making sure we hustle to the ball and making sure we ID everybody and get everyone on the same page."
Kalil said the players are the ones who need to refocus on the task at hand.
"That's something that I think looking into this off-season that we as players need to kind of sit down and say, 'This is what we take care of on our end. This is what we've got to get done if we're really committed to getting to the playoffs and getting to the Super Bowl,'" Fox said.
Hopefully, they will play just as tough next week against the Giants.
They are playing better as of late with a good core group of receivers and RB's....
