Who takes the credit for this draft? The best player may be in Miami. I still like Carpenter better than Lafleur. It just hurts when you realize that Emmitt was taken about this same pick.

1 18 Bobby Carpenter LB Ohio State
2 53 Anthony Fasano TE Notre Dame
3 92 Jason Hatcher DE Grambling State
4 125 Skyler Green WR Louisiana State
5 138 Pat Watkins FS Florida State
6 182 Montavious Stanley DT Louisville
7 211 Pat McQuistan T Weber State
7 224 E.J. Whitley

I'm still holding out hope that we can trade Carpenter to a team that plays the 4-3. I'll take a 7th rounder or a DB.

Judging by the first couple of picks I'd have to say Parcells.

Parcells has a fetish for TEs then you have Carpenter's ties to one of his former players.

hold on now, it's not what you think.

It just looks to me like they're gonna give Bobby Carpenter his shot. He is gonna be able to compete for the starting role, and is going to take Burnett's role on sub packages.

We all probably think he is a bust, but maybe this is his shot.

Or maybe they will just write him off and call the 2006 draft a complete bust... which really means we STILL aren't drafting well.

Wow, in hindsight, that draft really sucked.

Thats almost a franchise crippling draft. Not a single serviceable player, and we got very little value in return. Now go look at some of the talent that was in that draft right after we picked (Carpenter - A. Cromatie, S. Holmes, D. Williams, M. Kiwanuka, N. Mangold. Fasano- T. Scheffler.) Hindsight is 20/20 but its would seem to be more difficult (from a probablistic standpoint) to miss that many times in a row, dont ya think?

Makes you appreciate that 08 draft, where we snagged at least 5 quality players.

Yet Parcells gets so much credit for the talent on this team. We greatly improved our personnel when he was here, no doubt. But he made a lot of  type acquisitions, but nobody blames him for the bad stuff. He just gets credit for the good stuff. I guess I'm a little bitter because he left without finishing the job. I don't mean a Super Bowl victory (which would've been sweet). I mean he basically quit on us. First he robbed Jerry for more money for an extra year. Then he quit.

Parcells is too partial to former players and their kids. He also has an allergy to wide receivers unless their name is Glenn or Keyshawn.

Really good post. For all the blame Jerry gets for his moves - BP made his fair share of terrible decisions here too. He can thank an UFA QB for ensuring his record here was above .500.

People discuss the culture that Jerry has created here, BP seemed to create such a pressure-filled environment that our guys just couldn't win under it.

Same players, 3-4 years later, under Wade - same stupid penalties, same mental errors, inability to make 'plays', inconsistency.

So either they aren't as good as we think they are, or they've had two polar opposite coaching attitudes and need the Goldy Locks 'just right' head coach so they can finally suceed.

He's not a bust, 1st rounders take 5-6 years to develop. Just wait and see...

This guy is a bust. Couldn't beat out Akin, couldn't beat out Zach and now they sign Brooking and will draft someone in the draft. What a waste of a draft pick, but at least he can play special teams.

DBOY3141 is turning out to be a bust as a poster.

Rehashing crap that we've discussed for years now? This topic is staler than week-old fish. Only a bust would start a thread like this.

With a draft like that in 2009, The Roy Williams for a 1 & 3 looks favorable!
