Free agent defensive back and kick returner Chris Carr is now officially a member of the Tennessee Titans, as the Raiders declined to match the offer sheet he signed with Tennessee last week. Carr was a restricted free agent, but the Raiders will not receive any compensation from the Titans.
For most of Carr’s career he has primarily contributed on special teams, but his agent says he expects to play defense as well.
“He really liked his visit there and wanted to join the Titans,’’ agent Buddy Baker said, per Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. “I think most people view him as an elite punt and kick returner, but he can also play in the secondary at corner and safety and can compete and contribute in the defensive backfield. Chris is anxious for the opportunity to compete.’’
Carr has played all 48 games in his three-year career but has only started four. He has career averages of 24.1 yards on kickoff returns and 5.9 yards on punt returns.
