Carson Wentz may not have faced the best competition at the FCS’ North Dakota State during his collegiate career, but he certainly faced significant pressure on Thursday in front of NFL scouts and media members picking apart his every move in anticipation of the 2016 draft.
Wentz was the main attraction at North Dakota State’s pro day on Thursday and reportedly looked impressive throughout his performance. In fact, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network and NFL.com gave the signal-caller a glowing review, via College Football 24/7:

.@MoveTheSticks grades Wentz's pro-day throwing session: "That's an A if not an A+. "
— CollegeFootball 24/7 (@NFL_CFB)
Unfortunately for Wentz, not every team had the opportunity to see him earn that “A if not an A+” in person. Gil Brandt of NFL.com shared the details regarding an uncooperative mother nature before he raved about Wentz's performance:

Because of snow storms only 18 teams at Wentz's pro day. Only 1 HC here -- Hue Jackson who was delayed in Minneapolis. 30 teams credentialed
— Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt)
One of the best pro days I've ever witnessed. Wentz reminds me of Joe Flacco. He had 2 55-yard passes that were as pretty as I've seen.
— Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt)
Peter Schrager of Fox Sports echoed similar sentiments and urged fans not to draw any conclusions about the low attendance:

As reported last night, snow impacted travel for many coaches, scouts, and GMs at Wentz Pro Day. Don't read into low attendance. @NFLonFOX

So, wonder if he was purposely bad with the wet ball throws...because everything else was pretty impressive. I would tank specific throws if it kept me out of Cleveland.

I'm on the Wentz bandwagon now....dude looks the part of a franchise QB....with the first rounder, you get them for up to 5 years. Big body, in great shape. Strong arm. Mobile. I honestly think that Romo may have 2 good years left and his contract is such that after this year we can cut him and the cap savings become significant even with the dead money.

63 of 65 according to Gil Brandt and the two misses were off the receivers hands. Like I said the other day in regard to Goff's workout....these guys SHOULD be almost perfect in these workouts. He was that.

I really like the kid. He has everything you look for except experience. He hasn't played a lot of games and the comp was weak but he has the tools. If he is developed properly he can be a good one

It must have been nice to watch the Browns' future QB in person.

lol at the overreactions after every pro day. I thought Goff had the perfect pro day? Why dont the experts come out and say both guys are better than Luck because the hype justifies that stance.

Didn't Manziel blow everyone away with his pro day performance?

Most do. But that's just a small part of the evaluation process. The biggest part is game film. What did they do in games. As for little Johnny I don't think his issues are talent. He has talent but he lacks the body part between his ears and that's pretty important

I don't think either is better than Luck. But I think Wentz has the potential to be as good if not better. He is nowhere as nfl ready as Luck was coming out but he has the physical and mental abilities to develope into a fine QB

Wentz has all the physical skills. He has all the mental skills. And he loves the game. All he needs is seasoning because of where he played. And he would get that in Dallas while Romo plays out his career.

I would have no problem if the Cowboys moved up to get their future franchise QB.

If we gutted our draft for Wentz...

I still think it would be worth it because of the position he plays. He still has to hit ultimately for it to be worth it but if you hit on a QB then it's worth every pick you gave up.
