I keep seeing a lot of members pretty much handing other ILB position to Carter next season but I just have few questions. Not from a point of not believing but of ignorance. I don't remember seeing a lot I him at the end of the year last year other than few plays but then again I wasn't really looking for him. How is his knee doing and will he be ready to take the position over someone like Connor who we brought in? I don't know enough about either player to have an opinion on who is better.

Garrett is not going to hand over the starting job to Connor, there will be competition and i really hope Carter wins it .

I'm guessing Carter will play against the pass and Connor will be used against the run?

Way too early to know. That's what training camp is for after all.

Yes because hes a 2nd round draft pick with 1st round potential. He's our guy.

That's funny because I've seen completely the opposite - most members writing off Carter as a bust.

I hope to see a rotation with both on the field at times

That's probably how it will play out. Essentially three starting ILBs.

But it would be best for the Cowboys if Carter begins to take hold of that starting spot towards the end of the year. Connor's nice, Carter has a higher upside.

Like every position it should be decided on the field.

The expectation is for Carter to start and have Connor give both of them a breather.

I'm betting Connor is the starter at the beginning of the season and I'm hopeful Carter emerges the 2nd half and takes that spot from him.

But there's no reason why 3 ILBs can't all get plenty of playing time to be big contributors.

He also has an unproven knee. I hope like hell he can beat out Connor, because that guy is a scrub and a half.

I agree. All 3 ILBs will get their snaps, regardelss of who starts. Our hope as fans though should be that Carter turns it "on". I have no question Lee will turn it on and that Connor will be solid off the bench. But if Carter does not turn it "on" and Connor starts before him then we'll have a huge hole in the middle of the defense.

There's no secret that this is why the club is still holding on to Bradie James and Keith Brooking until the very last minute. I firmly beleive that the best of these guys will be kept if Carter shows any signs of struggle.

That's the way I see it as well. Connor is probably a little bit more ready to start, Carter has more upside, and considering we were rotating three inside linebackers already with Brooking and James, it should be a vast improvement rotating these three guys instead.

Both Bradie and Keith are free agents. They aren't holding on to either. There was talk of possibly resigning Keith before the Connor signing. That idea has been likely scrapped.

I don't think James has been released.
