I don't listen to the local sports radio guys here in Austin that often, but I did yesterday on my drive home. The two guys were talking about the best NFL players produced by Mack Brown at UT. They decided Ricky Williams was the best and that Casey Hampton was a close second.

Ricky was probably more a product of John Mackovic, but that is not why I am posting. These guys went on to talk about that Casey Hampton will probably get serious consideration for the Hall of Fame when he retires. I laughed and almost ran off the road. I like Casey Hampton. He is a fine NT and the kind of player any team would want. He is not a Hall of Famer.

If Charles Haley can't get in how is Hampton going to get in? Oh wait he's a Steeler....first ballot

Yeah, Hampton is not a playmaking NT. Never has been. He's good, but not great. All you have to do is be a fat 330 pound slob and not be terrible in a 3-4 and the media will slobber over you. It cracks me up when people talk about how undersized Ratliff is for the position at 305, when he's just as muscular as these other guys, he just doesn't carry around 25 extra pounds of worthless fat.

their are only a few players that are in the NFL that have careers long enough to qualify, but i think quinton jammer has had a better career than hampton save for the superbowls
