Castonzo vs Solder vs Carimi

Castonzo doesn't look like he's going to be a successful OT in this league, to me. He looks like he needs to spend a year or two in a training program and then he's going to end up an OG, anyway.
I second that motion regarding Castonzo and that idiot Charles Davis, have the Cowboys drafting him with the 9th pick in his mock draft.

If he was the GM in Dallas and did something like that I would personally buy a plane ticket to Valley Ranch and punch him in the face.

I think Castonzo might have a little more upside, but I think there's more chance he's a miss. I don't think it's a high chance, but higher than Carimi. I'm really torn on this. I don't think Carimi can play left tackle, I think he could do it a game or two, but not long term.

Carimi's my fav. player in the draft. That said, I wouldn't be disappointed with Castonzo either.

Don't want Solder til the 2nd though

I would be ecstatic if we traded down and we got Carimi.

Then trade back UP into the first round and take Heyward.

1a) Carimi RT

1b) Heyward DE

3) Deunta FS

4) Moffitt OG/C

5) Hynoski FB

6) Kerley WR/PR/KR

7) Van Dyke CB

I can see Ted Thompson of Green Bay trading up to get Carimi.

He has only traded up once in his 10 year career as GM for the Packers, and that was to select Clay Matthews.

This will be his second trade up.......because Carimi is that good, and the only need position GB has is O-linemen to protect Lord Rodgers.

Carimi is just a big ole cornfed Wisconsin boy. I like those kinds of linemen. Like Brian Bulaga. Big ole Iowa boy.

na, the only reason he was a OG at the senior bowl was because they has Solder and Carimi. out of the three Carimi is the best RT and Castanzo is the best OG. You have those three guys on your team your going to find a spot to play them all. Castanzo will get some NFL strength in his legs and be fine at OT.

He hustles. He just doesn't have the power to stop bull rushers, afaict. We'll see.

Carimi because IMO he's the surest thing and we need a sure thing on the OL. He may not ever play LT and that's fine, we have Free who is okay there.
Costanzo may be good butf I'm not overly sold that he'll walk in day 1 and start like I am Carimi.
Solder and Smith could be great, but they could both be Tony Mandarich too. I have no idea which way they'll go....all potential at this point and we don't have the luxury of gambling on a OL.

Or maybe we could trade down to pick up J.J. Watt then use the draft pick received in that trade to trade back into the first round to pick Carimi. I could live with a couple of Wisconsin linemen on each side of the ball.

I live in SEC country and sherrod is a raw LT without the killing instinct of a RT. Sherrod isn't a bulldoser and fits more of a Indy like pass happy offense where the QB can get the ball off quick. I like Sherrod and I wouldn't mind him at 40 but he is tier 2 OT for me.

I think Sherrod is getting undersold. He's been lost in the wash of OT's, but on the field he always impresses me more.

You don't dislike him, I know, and if he made it to 40 and we'd not gone OT in the first I'd be doing backflips.

Like you said, I think Indy might have their guy with him.
