First off on a serious note hope you all are doing well Been hearing some sad things here in NY. Stay safe Cowboy Zone.

So after this week lets recap where we are and what we need and hear out their;
1) Poe signs on a 2 year deal
2) McCoy signs on a 3 yr deal
3) Zeurlein signs on a 3 yr deal
4) Dak is in talks to be highest paid player in NFL
5) My man and one of my favorie players Fred beard retires

Not bad for a weeks work plus all our players that we signed back plus Canady. I have a feeling we are going to see much better special teams this year for sure.

What we still need in no uncertain order;
1) DE Biggest hole on team, personally Id like to see filled in FA rather than depend on a rookie, Gregory easing back in or Crawford. Crawford is at his best when they move him around, hes a good chess piece

2) CB We have 2 guys in the last year of their contracts. Big need here and would expect them to grab one in the first 2 rounds.

3) S see CBs both starters on the last year of contracts we desperately need to go get 1 in Draft.

4) WR right now we need a slot who we could pick up in later rounds of draft. My pet cat is Proche, if not a veteran signing is needed at some point. I wouldnt be opposed if one of the big 3 fell to us and we went that way. I know we need to many defensive pos to fill, but the thought of the right scheme with Elliot, Pollard, Coop, Gallup, Jarwin and possibly Jeudy, Ruggs or Lamb. My God its enough to get me pumped right now to watch.

5) LB Not a big need but would like to find some depth and develop for Lee's spot next year. Having those big bodies up front should help our LBers alot.

6) C Best for last. Know one is going to replace the Beard but I think we will be ok with what we have right now. If a good one slips and he's BPA than get him if not put on next years to do list.

So I still feel the one FA we need to sign is RDE, it leaves us free to draft whoever we want when we want. Now we don't have to draft a rookie to rotate in with Gregory, who at the very least is gonna need at least half to 3/4s of the season to get some of his playing skills back.
Especially if camps and OTAs are suspended and shortened.
So these are my thoughts this quarauntined Saturday morning. Stay well my friends

For the 1st time in a very long time I don't think DE qualifies as one of our biggest needs. It's still a need, but I'm not thinking 1st round, trade up or anything like that. I'm hoping Randy G is ready or maybe resign Bennett, etc.

I still think our first two picks should be defensive. CB or SS, then WR, C, or TE. To me DE isn't a big need right now, because we still have Gregory, Jelks, Armstrong, Crawford, and Jackson in the mix. Our DE's behind DLaw aren't great but they are solid. IMO.

I agree I wouldnt draft one becaus we have bigger needs. But I would like to see one more signing at the RDE position. Gregory hasn't played in over a year, you don't know how long its gonna take him to get that football strength and IQ up to par.

4) Dak is in talks to be highest paid player in NFL

You would think the 'highest paid player in the NFL' would have actually accomplished something, like a super bowl appearance or 2. An NFC championship game at the very least.

But nope, not in Dallas.

Jerry lets his players throw tantrums and caves in to their ridiculous demands without forcing them to earn it. This franchise continues to be such a joke.

I like Dak alot, highest paid is definetly a stretch but sounds like where this is headed. At least its over and we don't have to hear about it anymore and just pray for the best.

I think adding a CB, WR, DE and backup OT in the draft would serve this team especially well. After that, BPA help should serve us well, also.

That first pick I guess will depend who is there. D needs more pieces (like what we have done so far) but if Lamb is there, let's roll his name quickly.

In my opinion the biggest needs on this team are
1. DT
2. S
3.OL
4.LB
5. DE

6) We signed Ha Ha to play safety.

How long before the season starts? Gregory has plenty of time to get into shape. I just don't know why we let Bennett go. Like Crawford he can play anywhere along the line, except he's good at it.

You listed five positions and CB isn’t one of them? Perhaps you haven’t taken a look at our roster AND the fact that two of our top 3 are going into the last year of their contracts. CB might just be our biggest position of need, but regardless it’s definitely Top 3.

That's all Jerry. He should have locked Dak in two years ago. Once he took Romos spot, he knew what he had in Dak

I feel our needs in the draft haven't changed much - yet. DE and CB remain the 2 biggest needs, DT has slipped due to the 2 signings but I would still grab 1 of the second tier tackles if we can. Dont trust Hill, but will hope the light bulb comes on this year.
Of course, all that is out the window if somehow Kinlaw gets to # 17.
Same as I dont trust Hill, I dont trust Gregory. If he can somehow get reinstated, has applied but not been granted yet. It's a good chess piece and we see how he hangs in for the first year back, but you cant rely on him as a starter at DE after all he has put himself thru to date.
CB is a high priority, with Safety not far behind.
Center will be interesting to watch what the plan becomes - I. House or draft pick.
Hopefully in MM's first year it's a solid draft and solid season - but they need to get Dak done.
2nd year with the hopefully 4 comp. Picks they will really be able to fill out this roster and be dangerous !

Only Belichick makes these kind of moves.

Jerry didn't have the HC (Garrett) whom had a formula for success deep into playoffs.

If Garrett had pushed to resign Dak after 2017 season we wouldn't be here right now where Dak has enough leverage to tank our season.

Going off of past history, it's looking like DT & S are top targets for the draft this year. I'd add CB even tho we didn't get one in FA.

I am one of the biggest Dak supporters here. He is losing me. Even if its his agents, he needs to take control. Dragging this out does the team harm. Plus what are the negotiating - he numbers should be set with CW and JG signing last season. Giving Dak another $3-5MM per is just stupid. Even if he was the best player in the league, the cap is a huge consideration. That money can be spent on 1 or 2 veterans that can have a big impact. Jerry is a fool if he pays him more that $31 to $33MM per. If its years, then give in to Dak and make it a shorter deal so he can re do a deal in 4 years. It is just stupid.

I will embrace most of your points.

You have not missed much.

Not all of the positions can be fixed this year.

This year and next and that assumes no major losses thru injury, etc.

I personally believe trading out of 17 and moving to the end of Rd #1 and picking up another pick in #3 or #4.

This gives us more to deal with as far as juice.

Then take that pick and add our #2 pick and possibly a high pick from 2021 and move back into the 1st Rd and have Two 1st Rd picks..

Our own late in the 1st from trading back and then another 1st Rd pick moving up with the combined high pick from 2021, our 2nd Rd pick and whatever we got from trading back in the 1st rd.

Two #1s.

And we have netted 2 starters for sure. Any positions you want.

DE, DBs, WRs, OL.. you name it.

Then we pick up drafting in 3rd Rd and finish our shopping.

Technically, we can improve and make up lost time with the pandemic problems and draft quality instead of quantity.

Mel Kiper will lose his mind and Jerrah will get early consideration for GM of the Year.

As if Jerrah needs more awards on his office walls.?

So check your bucket list again and start watching video of your pet players and..
