The 53 prediction game is always fun. Worth watching.

The bold names are the players he feels confident have a spot reserved.

Rest are fighting for 53 or Practice Squad depending on how deep team goes at those positions.

Here is a similar timeline one from Blogging the Boys.

https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/202...rst-week-training-camp-cj-goodwin-cooper-rush

Some big differences.

RB - They have Deuce staying but Cavanaugh thinks only if they need another return man will he stay.
WR - Flournoy stays.
TE - Looks like this Gant kid that was getting a lot of hype is on no one’s short list.
DEF - A lot more depth kept which is probably realistic.

I think we should trade one of our offensive linemen for a team with too heavy d-linemen depth if the right deal is available.

That RB/WR group is pretty sad. If/when Cooks gets hurt we are going to be hurting big time.

I could argue for different players in the last 5/6 spots, but for the most part I think all of the expected contributors are pretty set. Very few battles for starting spots in camp/pre-season. Maybe just Hoffman/Beebee…possibly Clark/Overshown too.

Edoga being safe seems like a tragedy. If we can't make him expendable, either our OL depth isn't as good as we thought or our coaches suck at roster management.
Very few teams, practically none, have quality offensive line depth. Just about every team has an Edoga.

I hear ya but given the resources we have spent on OL, we should not.

Edoga hasn't been that bad when called on to play. He's not great but he's penciled in as a backup for a reason.

It’s impossible to predict the roster this early after only two weeks of practice. Jeff does do a good job trying though.

Copper won't make it. They wouldn't keep a small WR like him over a 4th TE or even a guy like Fant, if for no other reason than special teams.

The list as written is fine but without a single preseason game played, this list is going to change a bit. Someone will step up to elevate themselves. And then there are injuries. We've already seen Sam Williams blow up. The post-covid rules on how the Practice Squad is managed gives some room for players to still have a chance to play while hiding on the PS. All teams seem to have an understanding each PS player can be elevate to the gameday roster three times per season. After that they are either signed to the 53-man roster or no longer eligible to be elevated.

Dak, Trey (Rush to PS to start the season)
Lamb, Tolbert, Cooks, Turpin, Brooks, Flournoy (they keep their draft picks, all the talk with the other WR's, some to the PS as usual)
Guyton, Smith, Martin, Steele, Beebe, Hoffman, Richards, Thomas (keep the draft pick), Waletzgo as they seem to like him, otherwise could be Bass or Edoga, they like him as well, over Waletzgo.
Zeke, Dowdle, Luepke, unfortunately Vaughan, as I seen Freeman has a groin injury now. Peat could be in the mix over Vaughan, but have not heard anything about him in TC.
Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Stephens, Hendershot. They need experience at TE so Hendershot until Schoonmaker is 100%.

Clark, Overshown, Kendricks, Liufau, Wilson. I really want to keep 6, but won't for now. Harvey would be my 6th, as they will keep too many DB's in lieu of a LB, it is what they do.
Micah, DLaw, Ziggy, Mazi, Kneeland, Golston, Muhammad, Vehoko, Rogers (again hang onto a few draft picks)
Diggs, Bland, Hooker, Bell, Wilson, Thomas, Lewis, Carson, then past draft picks, Scott, Izzy, Wright (as those last 3 hold them draft picks) Goodwin to PS until they need him. I have 11 DB's, which I think is too many, but again it is what they do. I say let Wright go, keep Harvey at LB.

Anger, Aubrey, Sieg

Hopefully Zimmer can make them change their thinking on they way they do things on defense. Keep an extra LB.

WR might be the deepest position on the roster. 5 deep and some behind who look promising.
If by depth you mean there are bodies with a pulse…sure. But there a is severe lack of talent behind Lamb/Cooks. We’ve been down this road with WR for several years, just because we add late/UDFA to the roster doesn’t mean they can play.
