CB Brandon Carr close to signing with Cowboys

CB Brandon Carr close to signing with Cowboys

Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reports that the Dallas Cowboys could sign free agent cornerback Brandon Carr as early as Tuesday night.

Carr is the best cornerback left on the market and Jerry Jones cannot afford to let him get out of Dallas without signing. The Cowboys had one of the worst secondaries in the league last year. Lombardi says Carr's contract could be as much as $7million per year.

what does it mean by close, is it measureed by how far the pen gets to teh contract? come on dallas other teams have already signed the guys they want, do it or let the man walk.

he should walk on principle, the other guys have signed, if dallas isnt going to play leave Carr. THis is just silly.

Dallas forgot to restock the pens at Valley Ranch. He's waiting for Stephen Jones to get back from Target with a ballpoint.

It means the deal has been agreed upon and they are adjusting the exact structure to Carr's liking.

I hate to keep saying it, but the rough numbers were agreed upon about 7 hours ago either while Carr was on the plane or when he very first got here. This is all just ironing out the details.

I hope you're kidding. This is actually pretty typical. A lot of the players who met with teams won't actually sign contracts until tomorrow ... and some teams don't like to announce it when they've just agreed to terms.

Targets closed. Maybe he's waiting in the parking lot for it to open in the morning?

I don't think you understand how these negotiations works. You realize that Carr will be bigger than every other signing that has been made thus far save Vincent Jackson?

Contract size or quality of player?

Because Finnegan, although I rather have Carr and especially at $7 million/year, did sign 5 years $50 million.

Big difference from 5 year $35 million.

I think at those numbers it would be the best valued deal signed in free agency on behalf of any team so far. Would be a top 5 steal for sure once FA is done if those end up being the numbers.

But not bigger than Finnegan's.

all im saying if the Skins can do it 36 mil down, Dallas should be able to hammer it out at the same pace, and probably did, im not saying they cant, it just gets frigthening to see teams gobble up and we havent secured one person, for us impatient people, now you did say a while ago it was a done deal but its nice to see it set on the page as a done deal.
