it also stand to reason considering that the Cowboys have not done a press conference since the collusion refusal penalty was handed down that they are not overly in a hurry to talk quite yet.

I want to hear what they say and hope the press is not their typical dimwitted self when it comes to asking questions.

It means the deal has been agreed upon and they are adjusting the exact structure to Carr's liking.

I hate to keep saying it, but the rough numbers were agreed upon about 7 hours ago either while Carr was on the plane or when he very first got here. This is all just ironing out the details.

I hope your right. There was a report about an hour ago that said they tried to finalize the deal tonight (which means a little more work is required tomorrow).

Carr signing appears imminent as talks linger until late Tuesday night

While there has been no official announcement that Brandon Carr is a Cowboy--or is certain to become one--the circumstantial evidence that he will sign later today is overwhelming.

Carr was met by Jason Garrett and Rob Ryan in addition to the Cowboys secondary and their assistant secondary coach early Tuesday afternoon. Carr had dinner with Jones and the coaching staff and talks continued late into Tuesday night.

Monday Carr was sky high in a "Tweet" saying "Let's get this thing done tomorrow." One could presume that unless something almost inconceivable happens, Carrwilll and in Dallas and not San Francisco. The length of the negotiations suggest contractual fine tuning was in play and that a deall could be struck by tomorrowmorning and announced tomorrow afternoon.

As of 11:00p.m. EDT, however, no deal had been struck but the word on the street was that a signing was almost a certainty.

Tramaine Brock - DB - 49ers

49ers re-signed exclusive rights free agent CB Tramaine Brock to a one-year, $540,000 contract.

An undrafted free agent in 2010, Brock opened last season as the Niners' nickel back, but a Week 2 hand injury sent him tumbling down the depth chart. He finished with just five tackles and two picks in 11 games. Brock could get another shot at nickel duties in 2012 if free agent Carlos Rogers is not re-signed.

Perrish Cox - DB - 49ers

49ers signed CB Perrish Cox to a two-year contract.

Cleared of sexual assault charges last Friday, the 2010 fifth-round pick will get a chance to revive his career in one of the league's most dominating defenses after sitting out 2011. Cox's signing could indicate the 49ers don't expect to re-sign free agent Carlos Rogers. Although Cox had an excellent rookie season for the Broncos in 2010, he'll likely open the year behind Tarell Brown, Chris Culliver and Tramaine Brock on the depth chart. A first-round talent, Cox does have the capability to climb that pecking order quickly if his head is on straight.

49ers signed CB Carlos Rogers to a four-year, $29.3 million contract.

It's a surprising move after the 49ers took a flier on former Bronco Perrish Cox Tuesday, but hardly shocking after Rogers had a career year at age 30 last season. The 49ers will now officially return all 11 2011 defensive starters in 2012, and sport one of the league's deeper secondaries. The cornerback market is now barren barely six hours after the start of free agency.
