While visiting his former high school in Flint, Carr spoke with a reporter about playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

“Individually, this season was a learning process for me,” Carr told MLive.com’s Eric Woodyard. “I came to Dallas with high expectations, with a chip on my shoulder and a lot of things that I wanted to accomplish as well, and I’m still in the process of doing that, but being assigned each team’s No. 1 option each and every week with little to no help.

“It’s fine, because that’s the type of games that you want when you grow up, but it was good because I learned a lot about myself.”

According to Carr, here are five things you need to know about being a Cowboy:

  1. "Don't be surprised to find yourself on ESPN every single night."
  2. "Expect all the prime time games that you want."
  3. "There's always a rhyme and reason to all the chaotic things that go on inside Valley Ranch."
  4. "The atmosphere and stadium that we play in is crazy. That stadium is Jerry Jones' baby."
  5. "One of the perks of playing in Dallas now is the notoriety. I didn't expect it to be like this. I like to be low-key, and not trying to brag or anything, but people notice me everywhere."

It's not like he had a lot of help on defense. Also, players go to Dallas to die off. They don't go there to succeed. Not because they don't want to, but because the organization doesn't allow them to. The dysfunction originates from the top and permeates every fiber of the team.

Let me guess... the rhyme is something that sounds like "Barry Bones." I'll let someone else figure out what the reason is.

Just a hunch on my part, but I think Carr has about one more year left as a Cowboy if he does not start playing much better.

Don't you think some of this just has to do with..

some really lousy luck with injuries..

and the fact we've had to go thru 3 HCs in the last 6 years..

Parcells, Philips and Garrett?

I mean Parcells left voluntarily and said working for Jerrah and the Cowboys was all good.

Phillips was a bridge coach to Garrett and that was the plan all along..

and he still succeed even with Jones as the owner.

So I just don't see all the losing you want to say.

It's not what is wanted from the fans..

but it's not the catastrophe you say.

I personally think the players are sub-par and oversold as being good.

This I don't blame the owner for..

..the players are not meeting expectations.

Haven't now since 1997.

If this turns out to be Garrett's last year..

I'd like to see him go out on his shield..

get more emotional..

..get more in the player's faces on the sideline and get off the headphones..

take ownership and see what happens.

So another current player says the FO is a train wreck along with a bunch of ex-players who say the same thing.

Nah…cant be true. They must be missing the big advantage of having a narcissist for a GM/Coach/Owner?PoledancerCEO/PapaJohnsspokeman/Rapstar. If that isn't enough of an advantage, you get Junior with the secrete sauce to put the heat on in the post season…oops, I mean if you can even get to the post season. Darn injuries.

There may be a reason for it, but that doesn't mean it's a good reason.

Our coaches were bad, anyone not named Marinelli. A lot of defensive injuries, and no safety help. I think Carr did okay for what was asked of him, He didnt say Hey JJ, get us a 4 -3 and an aging DC bro, that will allow me to do what i can do"

No, he was a victim like the fans. He was sold a bill of goods, than some nimrod pulled it from under him. whats he supposed to do? Some fans expect way to much.

I think he was also implying how poor the Safety play was in this new scheme where he had no confidence in the S ability to adapt or physically be where they need to be. Carr/Scan seem to be the only secondary players with any awareness/knowledge to coverage schemes and what responsibilities are required for the entire secondary to function as a unit (despite Carr's poor performance last season).

Hard to argue. Someone said that the Cowboys safties were worst in the league and got chastised, but I looked through other current rosters and and I think you can only argue the Commanders may be a toss up.

A smart safety (coverage audibles, on the field coach type) with speed would do wonders for this secondary and would justify the heavy investment in the position.

I am hopeful of Wilcox, But you cant leave 50% of the middle/deep middle to the likes 4.7 Church and the Heath bar

Nice one :D Yeah I am a big proponent of Wicox @ SS and a faster FS type to man the sideline to sideline coverage in cover 3, man 1 high, or even simply get over to take on the exchanged receiver in simple Cover 2 (unlike last season, think Heath over and over again...) HOW is it possible that a Cover 2 D doesn't stress the exchange in training camp and practices throughout the season? Shows the evidence of obvious coaching gaffes that went into that secondary catastrophe of 2013 and the 3rd worst D of all time.
