What are the chances either Cortland Finnegan or Brandon Carr can sign with Dallas? Is either actually going to be on the market?

It appears Mario Williams might actually hit the market.

Could we afford Williams and one of the corners above? We would miss Nicks or Grubbs (whenever I think those two name sin the same sentence I think of fishing bait) but our D would be much better and we could still try to chase down DeCastro in the draft.

I would rather put a can of garbage back there than a Cortland Finnegan who has proven he is nothing more than a trash-talking "Deangelo Hall" type of corner, that has already hit his ceiling at mediocrity.

Scandrick > Finnegan

Mario Williams may very well be the most sought-after FA out there this year. The Boys have cap room, but he will most likely command a contract in excess of $100M. Plus, he doesn't really fit what the Cowboys are doing, if they stay with a 3-4.

Yes, I know he was doing well in a 3-4 before he got hurt, but he never backed into coverage. Okay, so we'll just let him rush the passer all the time. That means Demarcus has to back off more, or you're constantly bringing 5 rushers, which leaves the flats exposed. Teams will just throw short passes repeatedly into wide open areas.

Now, if you want to switch to a 4-3, then getting Williams makes more sense. But at that cost, knowing we have a lot of other holes to fill, seems like an awful lot to give one guy.

I only want to sign someone as a 4th corner/insurance option. I think the talent pool in the draft is much deeper, the risk is a little higher but the price tag will be much lower. The CB's in FA just aren't that good and they will get paid top dollar just because of lack of available options. Let's use the cap space on proven o-line players, a safety, and maybe even an ILB. There will be much better value at those positions.

Every single available dollar needs to be invested in the trenches. There should be absolutely no excuse for bad line play next season.

I'm not in disagreement. Invest in the trenches in multiple players.

We are NOT to spend that money on one or two players. We need serious reinforcements.

Of the FA CBs out there, Carr would be my choice. With that said, I think I would rather go after a CB at No. 14 in the draft, if that is the team's priority, and sign a FA guard like Nicks. I still think interior Oline is priority, but I wouldn't be bothered by going DB.

If we Don't get carr, i feel we will go after, Williams

Then get Jenkins in the draft...also possibly, Mike Griffin at FS

If we address other holes on the team through FA, and don't touch CB, i will be very Happy....

taht just means we will draft a premier Corner, like Janoris Jenkins

Not really my boy.

Not if you make him an end in the 3-4......

Then on Passing downs, have him and ware on the edges, with Rat and Hatcher inside.....Beast mode!

I'm on board with drafting Jenkins, I dont think the Stanford kid will be there at 14.
