CB Greg Newsome is available

FOX NFL’s Jordan Schultz reports Browns CB Greg Newsome and EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo are “believed to be available via trade entering the draft.”
The Athletic’s Zac Jackson previously speculated that Newsome could be traded, noting his $13.4 million cap hit as a reason for the team to move on. Cleveland can save the entirety of that figure by trading Newsome. The former first-round pick totaled five pass breakups across 13 games last year while playing a mix of slot and outside corner. Okoronkwo notched three sacks as a pass-rush specialist in 2024. Given the diminished roles both players hold in Cleveland, it wouldn’t take much for a team to acquire either defender.

Coming out he was an excellent zone corner prospect, along with slot experience makes him a legitimate trade option. All we have to do is take on the this year's money.

They screwed up picking up Newsome's 5th year option and want someone to bail them out of it. That $13.4 million cap hit is also how much you would have to play unless Cleveland eats some of it for the trade.

Pretty much the same with Okoronkwo. He's had 5 sks, 4.5 sks, and 3 sks the last three years. They want someone to bail them out of that contract as well.

Whatever team makes a deal for Newsome would have to get a deal done with his agent, and with that high cap number the draft comp would be what (?) a 4th or 5th.

I think the compensation would be a day 3 pick. Now the Cowboys could ask the Browns to take on some money or Cowboys could work with his agent and perhaps add another year to the contract to spread the cap hit, perhaps a non guaranteed number.
