Looks like 2nd year CB Nahshon Wright made pretty good improvement in 2022 from his rookie 2021 season.

Remember your new job where you spend the first few weeks finding the rest restrooms, trying to fit in and not step on any toes? I honestly believe a lot of mid-late-round rookies go through similar processes on the rosters. I'm not sure we as fans understand some require more patience than others.

I think Wright is definitely in a numbers game, like many players every year. Based on what they want to keep at other positions, they may keep more or less defensive backs this year. With Lewis expected to start the season on PUP, that should buy guys like Wright and Joseph more time to prove they belong.

Wright was a consensus 7th round pick that they took in the 3rd.

There seem to be varying opinions as to why, but I don’t wish to start arguments. At any rate, fans should probably change their expectations to that of a 7th rounder.

If this guy IS here, it’s because of others getting injured.

Seen nothing that would makes me think he's worthy of a roster spot as a defensive back.

This is who they took with the pick awarded for losing Byron Jones, as high as we are going to see

It should have been dealt for a future pick, but it was treated much more like mad money.

He sucks. No other way to put it. He should have been released last year. But we know how they like and hang onto their draft picks.

His late season INT was luck. He was in the right place at the right time. Or maybe the wrong place at the right time.

He was a reach in the draft and it showed. Even DQ, if he was his pick, can't hit on every one.

If he makes the roster this year, it will be because Lewis starts on PUP, which is extremely likely. And another CB is injured or they decide to keep an extra DB.
Also depends on ST's. Joseph is his competitor, and add drafted Scott as well. For ST's it will be both of them and Goodwin.

He's better than Joseph without debate. When we get players at the end of the depth chart better I'll say it but last year Wright was the best option behind diggs, brown, Lewis, bland.

It should definitely be a great completion for any roster spots at the bottom half of that list including Wright.

The stats you posted are missing context.

They don't tell Nahshon Wright's limiting total receptions (2.8) and yards (43.3) per game...which are very good.

It’s going to depend on how Joseph and Wright look in preseason. I’m not letting good guys go for Lewis or Goodwin….and Muku needs to stay at safety.

This is what I found on Nahshon Wright (2022)...

They had him play ultra conservatively.

Basically they told him to stay back until the ball is in the air, then come up and make the tackle...completions OK but don't let the receiver get past you.

It was opposite with Joseph. He was OK on most plays but when he failed it ended in TDs.

Wright and Mukuamu should have flipped positions from the beginning.

Mukuamu looks quicker with better change of direction.

Wright's best asset is that he is almost always in the right position at (almost) the right time. Unfortunately almost meant about 1 step late for the majority of plays.
