Didnt watch 18 min video...so i kind of feel guilty commenting, but clearly you didnt even watch 3 minute video you posted, so i dont feel too bad.

Exposed is the last word that came to mind.

On the TD pass, I thought that was a "legal" push off. The receiver pushed Surtain off, but did not fully extend his arms. The push kept Surtain from closing that gap with the receiver. Otherwise, I thought he looked okay for a college CB.

The second video I have seen before and it makes an interesting case. Surtain is handsy and uses his hands to help him stay with receivers. I don't think he is as handsy as Horn but it is a little bit of a concern if he gets too handsy. Nothing worse than a CB constantly getting called for holding or illegal contact giving the offense cheap first downs. But I don't think Surtain is that player. I also think these highlight videos use plays selected specifically to make the point of the analyst. No one really knows what kind of a player Surtain will be but it is clear he is better than almost every other CB coming out of college. The Cowboys only get to pick who comes out this year. It could be a weak draft, but that is what every team faces. Unfortunately for Dallas, they have a high pick but not a lot to pick from.

This is the same level of stupidity you saw from fans a few years ago when they claimed Ramsey was overrated trash because he didn't have interceptions in college. I'd be curious to see America's Cowboy's analysis of Ramsey from the 2016 draft. Gut says it would be a real hoot.

No. I posted what I and many others see about Surtain not being worthy of a top 10 pick, much less not good for what is needed in the Cowboys D-secondary.

This is what happens every year. You get guys on here that wanna talk draft but don’t know what they’re looking at, so 1) they place an overemphasis on what others (“draft experts”) say, and 2) they have an oversimplified view of test metrics i.e. they know 4.43 is a better time than 4.51 so they automatically think that means the faster player = the better player.

I’ve said it before and will say it again, Surtain needs to be in a scheme generous to him.

If you out put him in a cover 2 or a team like Baltimore, he’s going to be a stud. He utilizes his hands better than the other corners and it helps him know what to expect on route.

If you ask him to go man to man, he’s going to fail.

Opinions vary. There are several posters on here who want us to steer away from Surtain. Some say he's stiff. Some say he's a product of the scheme. Some say there isn't enough passion there for him to be trusted.

And some just flat out love him. The wow factor may not be on film, but it is in his stats. But drafting a CB because of his stats instead of his skillset can be a bad move. Remember Morris Claybourne.

I just hope we hit a couple of homeruns in this draft.

Handsy is fine, grabby is not. Surtain tends to do a lot of old school NBA hand checking. In college all DBs will have issues with certain types of receivers. On the TD he turned the wrong way but he had the ball but his turn et him keep his speed but let him drift away if he would have turned the other way he would have lost speed and might have made the play.
