The Cowboy Front office made a decision not to resign their #1 CB, Bryon Jones. They were rumored to be involved in discussions with the 2 top fa CB's, but decided against signing either one of them. Resigning Anthony Brown was important, as both Awuzie & Lewis are scheduled to become unrestricted fa's after next season.

Reading the tea leaves, it certainly appears, they will use a premium selection at the position, as high as their first rd pick. Many coaches state, you need 4 strong CB's to have success at the position. Figure open competition for all roles, boundary/nickel/dime positions. It's not rare to find a plug and play starter at the position, Awuzie most recently did it, with success, as a late 2nd rd pick.

There will likely be 2 drafted before round 4 is over unless they think Canady is actually a player.

I fully understand why they didnt pay BJ BUT I think they shouldnt totally go cheap at CB and go get a Logan Ryan type who will play for around 10, gets some experience and attitude at CB..

I like woods and Awuzi but as ft starters and the depth guys they brought in have camp battles to get through but I think we need a Vet at CB and Logan Ryans still there..

then in the draft we can focus on BPA DT first, S second, wr third, and maybe even a surprise and get Jhurts in the 4th and groom him as backup to Dak but potential as a starter if this Dak things stretches out.. I think Hurts could be used like THill to get his feet wet..

What's the shape of trash?

Roundish?

They're making it so obvious that someone will either trade ahead of us or the Falcons with the pick before us will take CJ Henderson.

I forgot about Logan, that could be a good pick up for us.

Fan Boys will hate this take, but even if we draft a CB in the first 3 rounds, this CB unit is bottom 3 in the league and will absolutely cost us games next season.

Awuzie and Lewis are solid, not spectacular. Anthony Brown is awful. Canady is another McClay wish and a prayer.

I have no issues with taking a CB in round 1. But what happens if Kinlaw or another higher prospect falls to them. Our CB position will be hurting next year if we wait until round #2.

Yes the Canady signing really rounded things out.

Now....I think you can live with Brown and Lewis as starting corners if you have a sick pass rush...

Then I read on PF rumors that Dallas "isnt expected to pursue" Griffin or Clowney.

This defense has no real chance as currently constructed. I don't see how they are going to count on a bunch of rookies, or have put the franchise in a spot to HAVE to take DBs early and often.

I'd like to see a veteran signed to hold the fort for a season or two until the rookies are up to speed. That's why I've been campaigning for Aqib Talib.

There's still some good ones that will be there in round 2.

The sweet spot is actually round 2. If Henderson is scooped up ahead of us, trading down a bit and gaining more picks is also an option.
Most of the round two guys are projected ahead of our pick: Diggs, Terrell, Gladney, maybe Arnette.

Im willing the entire draft as follows:

DL or DB

Just take the best available at either position
