What if, for some reason, the NFL chooses NOT to lockout the players? Would the players be responsible for negotiating since they now represent themselves or would they hire lawyers to do their negotiating?

No, it would be business as usual and the players already designated by the nflpa would still sue in court.

With no union backing them up, could the owners outright cut players now without having any ramifications (cap hits)?

My thought is there is no cap as of now, and the players have nothing guaranteeing their rights as well.

Could we unload MB3,Davis,Roy or anyone else we want without taking any fall for it?

That would be up to the nfl as an organization and there is always the possibility that even when dumping salaries in the uncapped years that the nfl could still have the cap hits in the new capped years. But that's only if they decide not to have a lockout.

I would imagine that everything is frozen until something is decided, even as a temporary solution from a court.
