Twitter seems like a craze. I'm curious what the normal folk (like you and I) use Twitter for other than keeping up with celebs or getting news/info quicker than they could by visiting an appropriate web site.

I think there are 2 ways for normal..

Teenagers use twitter as an alternate to FB to conversate en masse to their friends while being able to block their conversations from school officials.

You can always link your twitter acct to your FB acct, so whenever you tweet, your FB friends can see the update simultaneously.

renegaderadio does and i don't run it. there was also a script that ran on my account for awhile someone else suggested i ran to pick up listeners that just said what song was playing and i quit doing that long ago because i thought it annoyed people.

the younger crowd is much more in tune to twitter, to be sure. that's not good or bad, just how it works for that generation. twitter itself is just a toned down RSS feed, nothing more. it does have a place for short burst news and many people do get a valid use out of it.

i could see facebook or another social site buying twitter and it just being a piece of a bigger puzzle because on it's own, it really doesn't offer much outside of short burst news.

I figured you didn’t type most of it yourself. But for someone who is so anti-social media, you sure do use it (or allow it)!

But really, business wise you have to take advantage of Facebook. I have gotten a number of jobs from it. Twitter not so much. I usually read it when i get bored or looking for some news i might have missed.

hey - i thought the "you're free to not read these threads" was the battlecry here??? as for i'm old and anti-new things, 1st, twitter isn't new. it's based off RSS feeds that i use quite a bit to get headlines *and* initial paragraph information of the story. someone going "latest twit: this man walked out of his car and looked angry" is a "i don't give a damn" regardless of it being on twitter or CNN.
